Two Friday nights ago I reserved a table at this restaurant using Yelp, because for some reason Iens (a Dutch restaurant reservation site) which I usually use seemed to have a problem. I received a email verification, and a text verification, and, as anyone who cares to go and look will see, it clearly states on Yelp that you can reserve at this particular restaurant via their website. When we arrived at the restaurant at 19.00 I gave my name, which is particularly non-Dutch, so cannot be confused with any other surname. It was checked against the register, our coats were taken, we were seated and our drinks order was taken. We were given, and consumed a basket of bread and the evening proceeded as normal. About ten minutes later, we were asked rather abruptly to leave. The reason being, apparently, that we had no reservation, or we had just reserved that day (I am still unclear as to which) and somebody else had reserved two months prior. I showed the proprietor our Yelp reservation, at which he claimed to have no knowledge of Yelp and to have no knowledge of his restaurant being placed on Yelp. It became very embarrassing with everyone staring and eventually he told us that there was another restaurant of his around the corner which had a table for us and if we asked for a certain someone they would give us that table. Ridiculously enough they did not have a table for us and so we were left without a table on a Friday night! The correct thing to do in these circumstances is allow the seated patron to remain seated if you have made a mistake, not to allow another patron precedence over an already seated patron. Also, if you are on Yelp as a restaurant and you don't know, really, you need to sort that out. How to ruin date night in one go.

This delightful neighborhood restaurant creatively interprets classic French Savoyarde dishes and turns them into beautiful and delicious works of art. The atmosphere is relaxed and cozy and the staff are warm and friendly. At the level of a Michelin one-star without the price and attitude. A true gem!

Wij spreken onze talen
We came for dinner after the gay pride parade activities finished. I had the steak tartare and the Chateaubriand. Both were exceptional and good value for money. Good choices of sauces served with the steak. The gentleman that served us was friendly and attentive. Also the bathroom was so clean and beautiful with candles lit and a choice of hand creams... such a nice touch. Will definitely return.

We had a wonderful meal at Jaspers. It’s a friendly place featuring continental haute cuisine and an extensive wine list. Definitely one of the top 5 restaurants in Amsterdam. We had great fish, asparagus soup and desert dishes. Service was very attentive. Each dish presented in our 4 course dinner was accompanied by a discussion of the ingredients.

Nice house (little like Martin Berasategui) on lake shore (although no view, at least inside – there is a terrace too). Beautiful interior design. 6 course chef’s menu and a la carte. Everything was good in the menu. Good service, smooth pace – not too quick but not too slow either. I’ve visited many Amsterdam Michelin starred, and so far this is a clear winner.
