Great place to try the local specialty âtavernâ - a loose ground beef sandwich. Also famous for their onion chips & dip (tasty!) FYI there is no seating, but there is a walk up window abs drive through. Thereâs also a park/playground/picnic tables about 900 feet from Tastee Inn (Fairmont Park).
I love the coney dogs and chilli. The dogs and soft buns with mustard, chilli and onions are the best I have ever eaten. The chilli is so yummy with the perfect spices and oyster crackers. The owners and staff are so friendly and helpful. They treat you like family. Definitely a must stop if you are in Sioux City!
We arrived in the area on a family road trip and were happy to see the Firehouse sign on our way to the hotel. While the prices are always higher than I'd like, the ingredients are fresh, the meats are high-quality and the people are friendly. This particular location was clean and the subs were great. There are lots of tables and flat screen TVs showing the latest sports events. There were even shops across the street to stroll through.
Pickerman's is a place I'd wanted to try for several years but once I did, I knew for certain I'd not go back to that other sub shop, the one that can be found everywhere. I'll drive across town to eat at Pickerman's. Really. Pickerman's is in a strip mall that is set back a bit from Hamilton Blvd. You may not see it from the street as it truly is somewhat tucked away, tucked away behind a variety of chain fast food places. Once you find it and experience the food, you will be glad you found the place. I've had several different subs and each has been good. Pickerman's has a small dining area that is kept clean. Service is friendly and feels personalized.

Billy Boy has been updated, something that was definitely necessary. We arrived about 45 minutes prior to closing and ordered chicken. The young person at the counter told us it would be about 20 minutes for it. We each got the impression he was trying to talk us out of getting chicken. We'd driven clear across town for the chicken opportunity, so we decided to wait. I wanted a 2-piece chicken dinner with fries and requested 2 breasts, stating I completely expected to pay extra for the 2 breast dinner. I was told I could not order 2 breasts. (???) So, I ordered 1 breast and a wing with fries. We waited and it was definitely 20 minutes, maybe even a bit more. Our chicken was hot and really good. The fries seemed to be old, about 20 minutes old if you know what I am saying. Since we were there close to closing time, the employees had begun shut down duties. I noticed someone rolling up the door mats and placing them directly on a condiment area. I hope they wipe down the area each morning. Not only has the lobby been vastly improved, the bathroom has also been updated. Each area felt clean. As we were leaving, we were asked if we wanted a free ice cream cone for the dog out in the car. Nice touch. A 4-piece dinner, 2-piece dinner and 2 drinks came to $22.
