Things to do in Houma
I paid a little extra to get their lemonade, but when I heard the founder started out with a lemonade stand in Baton Rouge some years before I had to have that lemonade with my chicken finger meal.In the box I had also some French fries which were thin cut crinkle fries and some of the best chicken fingers I ever ate! Slightly crunchy on the outside from the breading, but the inside of the chicken fingers was tender and juicy with plenty of flavor. They really know how to do chicken fingers right!I can't go there too often because the best they have is fried, but I do go there as often as I can.If you are craving the best chicken fingers you ever ate and some really really good lemonade, you must try this restaurant.
Where to eat American food in Houma: The Best Restaurants and Bars
Everyone that went the first 2 days raved over the food. The restaurant ran out of food and only sold their homemade ice cream. But still they came in droves! Well, Monday we went over at 5pm and the place was still jumping. The menu for now is burgers, hot dogs and almost everything that you can do with homemade ice cream. You order at the counter in the rear under the menu sign. The order taker handed us menus and Cathy and I chose the 1/2 pound burger dressed mine on a jalapeno bun and a butterscotch malt and hers on a egg bun and an orange fanta. We gave them my name to call when it was ready. We found a table in the front and when the server caring a tray called out my name I lifted my hand and he placed the burgers on the table and went back for the drinks. Cathy found a plastic knife and cut her burger in 1/2 to save part for later but she wound up eating the whole burger. I failed to mention that they have no fries just bags of chips but that is ok. The burgers more than make up with very good chip. We will return to try more of the menu both burgers and hot dogs and many of their ice cream delights. This restaurant will grow and mature their menu as they define their customer base. This is a family restaurant and serves no alcoholic beverages. They do have a game room for the younger patrons to release their energy while the adults relax with a burger & malt.

I always kept driving past this place but finally decided to stop for a quick bite. The place pretty laid back, you stand and order and either go home or eat there. The have about 18 different names of sandwich combinations with names you can try I chose the French bread Ham and bacon sandwich which is called the Ultimate Porker. It was very good, but the bacon was tough, so after a while your head starts hurting from chewing. The bacon wasn't warm so i'm guessing it was precooked. Don't think anything is actually hot there. The chips are kettle cooked so they are very crispy. I got Regular flavor and they were good, worth a try. The service was quick and friendly. They also do delivery which is pretty cool. Will definitely be back to try the Gargantuan one.

The TARC Restaurant is part of the neighboring TARC facility, which offers vocational training, jobs, healthcare and support to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The restaurant is staffed by members of TARC and gives them a chance to learn a skill as well as get real-world experience. On top of that the restaurant serves great food and even better pie! On the day we went the restaurant was packed with the lunch crowd and almost all the pies were already sold out. They serve home-cooked comfort foods and the menu varies depending on the day. The prices were great too. I couldn't believe how much we got for the price! This restaurant is a little of the beaten path but if you ever find yourself in Houma you should definitely give it a try.
