Here at Kirkgate Fisheries we pride our self on only using the freshest local fish and always cook to order
We called in for a bag o' chips snack after mooching around the old town. Lovely chips, and served with a smile.Thank you for your kind review. It's always nice to get positive feedback. Hope we'll see you back again in the future to try something else from the menu.

I was on a photographic shoot with a buddy yesterday and passed this chippy...we waited 20 mins to have our orders taken even though there was 8 in the queue. They gad 4 staff and did not seem organised...charged £6:90 for fish and chips. ..chips soggy..fish with yellow tinge so definitely not fresh ( had lots of fish and chips up the east coast with lovely soft white flakes ) and wafer thin.I'd rate this as one of the poorest fish and chips I've ever had..should have waited and gone to sullivans in Hornsea. ..lessons learned.

Traditional Fish & Chips
We recently called into Fryers for fish & chips. This is not the the most modern of shops but the food was brilliant. Lovely white fish cooked to order. It was a busy Thursday when we called in and there were lots of locals in the queue which is always good. Really good value and friendly staff. Weâll definitely call in again.

Nice seated area. Friendly staff. We didnât want to much so just had chips, beans & bread and butter. Beans were not great tasted like the budget of the budget range. Chips were a little large and slightly undercooked for our taste but were not greasy.

We found this place on Happy Cow. We rang ahead with our order as instructed and collected within half an hour. Battered sausage, huge pea fritters (mushed with mint sauce), great chips, curry sauce, and even scraps! So much for your money too. We were assured everything was cooked in separate fryers etc and the owners seemed really helpful, genuine, passionate people. Definitely would return and recommend. Pea fritters were incredible!

Oh my! Bloody disgusting! Not only cold but swimming in grease!!! The fried chicken was burnt on the outside and raw inside, the calzone was cold inside and kebab meat was cold and hard . Couldnât take it back as we had a drink and couldnât drive back .... Avoid at all cost, they will make somebody ill soon if they carry on !!!

Stumbled across this hidden gem whilst visiting the area in Mid May. A proper Fish n Chip shop serving proper fish n chips. The restaurant is accessed from the main take-away counter. Simply laid out, very clean and welcoming in an old fashion way. The menu was the usual assortment of Fish, Pies, Sausages etc. But the stand out deal is Fish n Chips, Bread and butter and a drink. We chose the Cod deal, and when it arrived it was a nice portion, cooked fresh, and baking hot. Perfectly complementing the roll and butter and nice strong tea. Our server was quick and happy. So what more do you want at a bargain price - Good fresh Food. Good Service and homely atmosphere. One not to miss.

Fish and chip shop and cafe situated looking out on the Southside beach Stunning views from the cafe
Had a lovely lunch here in the sit down restaurant which is actually next door inside a Mexican themed bar/diner. Another small confusing thing was the chippy isn't branded as Wards, but hey, I found the place and their restaurant and neither disappointed. The cod and chips was fresh fried and served piping hot. Excellent batter, good quality fish perfectly cooked and a good job was made with the summer spud chips. The big advantage of lunch in what is by night a Mexican restaurant and bar was that I could have a beer with my lunch. Happy days. The service was great too... friendly folk and good to chat to.

We visited mid-week lunchtime, four adults and two children. We stipped here because there were some picnic tables in the rear garden. We ordered the food then nipped outside. It was ready in about five minutes. We all enjoyed it . The fish was tasty with quite thin batter which was cooked all the way through. The chips were quite small but crispy and very good. The young woman who served us was pleasant and helpful.
