We visited here as it is local to the house we own in the village but it is easily found on the coast road from Pontorson to St Malo. It's an attempt at an english pub and serves draft Guinness and John Smiths. It had a happy hour from 1800-1700 and serves a selection of bar foods, including fish and chips, calamari, chicken nuggetts and goats cheese tartine amongst other things. The service is friendly and some english is spoken. The fish and chips is obviously from the freezer but it's good and there is plenty of it and the chips are particularly good. The goats cheese tartine is excellent and comes with a green salad as does the calamari. The bonus was music as they have a small stage and we were entertained by a couple of young french guys who played guitars and sang very well first of all called stlyness and then an english duo, Diamond Dogs who performed covers of the beatles, the stones, the kinks and many more. They were excellent. A really good evening which would only have been improved by a bigger selection of comfortable seating and tables at the right height to eat from. Will definitely visit again though.

Heading east along the N175, just after Pontorson, there is this weird creature on a stick next to a Total petrol station. We have used this road for over 30 years, driving from Brittany to the Channel ports. Finding refreshment is always a challenge, and on rare occasions we have found La Maison Saint Michel open. In France, you MUST stop between 1230 and 1400 for refreshment. At all other times, the French give the Gallic shrug of disbelief that a traveller may require sustenance. No wonder Pontorson's Mc D with its American Aroma is so popular - it is reliably Open! However, if there is a chance it will be open, push on the Total garage, about 1km further east. and stop at the hut behind the line of flags and the curious beast on the pole.It is probably now called L'Express, and appears to be "under new management". A warm friendly welcome, and fast food with a French touch. Honest food cooked quickly, good portions at a reasonable price, and I was really impressed with the chips. Hopefully their opening times will improve too.

Actually stopped in for a quickie BaBi break (Bathroom & Big Mac) at the familiar sign of the Golden Arches. Clean facilities, familiar worldwide menu and free WiFi service, with a great attitude. The staff were young with smiles galore. Nice kiddie area outside if you have little ones. Nice Macdo. ...
