~we took a break here while travelling to Interlaken from Montreux via train~first off this rating came with it a very hungry pre-walk to the place recommended by the Zweisimmen rail office which was closed on Tuesday (Derby), followed by a cloudy overhang walk about looking for a place to lunch. We walked to the Tea Room Rio but Café Pony is hands down the best place to be for hot eats :)~our waitress immediately offered to bring out English menus after we spoke, it's a mix of Swiss French & German that's so unique to hear here :) Fast & Furiously efficient~the house red Sauvignon is amazing, the Dole is not so good!~the Pony Teller pork escalope with ham & cheese is a great hot dish cooked just melty enough and my fries with "Heisser Feger" table special chicken curry is such a happy meal... YUMz~It's summer in June so if you can put up with the houseflies that seem to be really ok with the locals, and they were filled to the brim that every table with spare chairs had folks sharing the table... so it's local endorsed :)~my dessert was the best ever ever Coupe Rinderberg a caremelly vanilla ice cream that hit the spot after a nice hot meal ~But this cafe really has a great baking, cheese and chocolating spread that makes this such a great spot in the middle of somewhere nice to relax and refill

big, bigger, Reichenstein If you are hungry and looking for the best Steak in town, then you are very welcome to try our Steak on the hot stone. (500g Meat) We are not only known for the hot stone, as well as the Entrecôtes, Cordonbleus and much more. We
The right place for juicy beef at a decent price served with fried potato wedges, different steak sauces and somewhat exotic trimmings (slices of melon). The sirloin steak (entrecote, the way Swiss butchers trim it, without fat) can be ordered in variable sizes, up to one pounders (400 grs). It is served only rare, on a hot piece of slate. So if it is too 'bloody' for you, just cut off your serving and leave it on the hot stone to cook it to your liking. It is a popular roadside inn, nothing fancy, with people from all walks of life, from truck drivers to hedge fund managers. They have plenty other hearty fare and daily specials at very reasonable prices. Run by a couple, with the husband (ex butcher) in the kitchen and the lady taking care of the guests in an equally hearty, country-friendly type fashion, as is customary in similar restaurants in the Bernese Oberland.Dear baloisPTThank you very much for your positive rating on TripAdvisor! We do appreciate that you enjoyed your dinner at our restaurant. We look forward to serve you again soon, and wish you all the best. Yours faithfully Hanspeter Teuscher, and Erika Ueltschi

Located at Middle Station on the lift to Rinderberg from Zweisimmen, this is a newly-renovated hotel and restaurant for skiers and non-skiers. We had lunch on two successive Fridays while our grandchildren skied with their school. The first Friday was a blowing, blinding, centimeter-an-hour snow storm, we were glad just to get in from the weather, then delighted to find tasty, well-presented, and generous lunches. The second Friday, a clear day, we returned with high expectations and were not disappointed. Superb views, good selection of wine and beer, and in sunshine the deck is warm enough to watch the skiers over coffee or lunch. Staff need a little work on getting orders right -- not all are fluent in German. Downstairs in the Lodge is a comfortable lounge for hotel guests.
We had a great time there! The people are very nice and welcoming and there is a fun playground for children. The menu is simple and good.

Zum Schlössli is a small, family-run restaurant in Grubenwald-Zweisimmen with an outdoor deck overlooking a gorgeous hillside town in the Swiss Alps. We stopped here on a whim as we drove through the mountains. Service was very friendly, and the food was very good. I ate the Bratwurst, served with a delicious gravy and a potato (hash brown like) cake. A great place to stop for a meal on this drive from Gstaad toward Interlaken.

~We were travelling to Interlaken and took a break here for lunch on a Tuesday~Train Station staff told us that Derby was the best restaurant nearby and a short walk on a path along the track so we took that advise and made out way there in 5mins~Trying to spot the restaurant entrance is hard from the road as it's at the back of the building...till we spotted the signs (see photos)We didn't eat here and this rating is off but we didn't want to rate it badly so it's taken on the advise of the locals at the train station :) we just wanted to share photos of how we located it so others may find it easily (see photos) and be forewarned that it does not open on Tuesdays !

We went there based on the reviews by Tripadvisior and were certainly pleased with our overall experience. All the fish were fresh, yummy and nicely presented. The salads were tasty. The restaurant setting was quite cute on the edge of a tiny lake. Our server Tommy was extremely nice, cheerful and helpful. The flies were in abundance and were very irritating but I guess there was very little the restaurant could do about it. It seemed that the other customers who were probably locals were used to them and were not overly bothered by them. The reason I took away one star was because they charged us extra on a few things .. the fries came with a couple of dishes as sides but they still charged us $9 and $6 for 2 portions. They charged us $6 for a side salad which again was supposed to be a side dish. They charged us a bit extra for drinks and then charged us $4 each for 4 glasses of hot tap water at the end of our dinner. We were also charged for drinking tap water which came in the beginning of our dinner. In most of the restaurants in Switzerland they donât charge you for tap water as long as you are ordering regular drinks. A bill which should have been around Fr 630 came to Fr 682. I questioned the server but did not get a satisfactory reply so I paid the 682 Fr as I did not want to spoil our otherwise wonderful dinner evening. All in all a good restaurant.

Beautiful Restaurant with absolutely excellent food. The Ambiance is great and reservations for dinner are recomended. The owner (Mr. Glatz), a great Chef and Artist (scissor cuts) organizes different exhibitions troughout the year and the exhibits are shown in the restaurant and can often be purchased there as well.
