Recommended and booked by our friendly hotel host this is not a place a casual tourist would stumble upon by accident. In the old and little used inner harbour area, right on the water, Bluehendeschiffahrt is a traditionally presented restaurant. The menu is dominated by fish dishes and these were favoured by my friends. I found that the rump steak was amongst the best I have ever had served. Most of the dishes come with re-fried potatoes (saute style) ample in quantity and quality. There is a choice of locally brewed beers and good German wine to be had here too.The very friendly and competent hostess spoke little English, accepted our efforts at German with good grace and all went to plan! We walked from town in about 20 minutes along a rather derelict but tidy disused quayside beside an overgrown railway line, unbothered by any road traffic. There is road access to the restaurant and some parking on site.Prices are really reasonable and you will not do better in Wilhelmshaven.

Had our lunch here and we loved it. We ordered a big sandwich with everything on it. Very fresh and the service was very good. I think he was the owner as well and was very friendly. Gave our dog some water and made jokes. It was a nice day so we sat outside, but what I saw from the inside this is a very coasy and comfortable place to eat. I liked the fact that it's also a sportsbar, so at night you could probably have a good time with friends here. Surprised to see that Hempels wasn't discovered earlier by a tripadvisor!

Had a fantastic meal here, great selection on the menu. They didn't have an English menu which is a bit of an issue for me but one of the group was German and could translate.Well worth a visit and we are going again next week! The building is very nice too..

I have been to this restaurant twice and both times were good. They have a very extensive menu with pizzas, soups, salads, and pasta. The restaurant is a little more than casual, but you will be fine if dressed down. The wait staff knows a little bit of english, but your best bet is to know the basic ingredients of pizza to help you through it. The pizza was about 14 inches and was cooked very well. You get served bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar. This is the best italian place I've found in Wilhelmshaven (Don't go to the one right across from the mall next to the Eis shop, GROSS)

The restaurant is located far (approx. 4km) from the center of town, but in the midst of beuatiful locks and harbors. From the outside terrace and the cosy dining room guests enjoy a magnificent view of the old port and a cast iron bridge. The menu is tradional with obviously a lot of choice in seafood. The quality of the ingredients and preparation of the food is good. Nevertheless, we got somewhat disappointed with the dish with coquilles st jacques. It is one of the most expensive dishes on the menu. As the accompanying shrimp were missing in the kitchen at the end of the day (can sometimes happen), this loss in the dish would be 'compensated' with extra scallops. But even under these special circumstances, the kitchen produced a dish with no more than four coquilles st jacques!

We sat outside and had drinks and snacks. Even with a chill in the air, the ambiance was wonderful. The location is right next to the sea and the view makes a great setting for visiting and relaxation. I cannot say how the interior was.

Very good restaurant in Wilhelmshaven.Nice dishes, recommended the fish. The presentation of the dishes is also very good. They have some good wines too.In summer is really nice because it has also some tables outside on the dock.Book it! Otherwise much likely you won't find a table!

Directly opposite the Columbia hotel this unassuming little pub was great with good robust food, charming service and an intimate and cosy atmosphere. The food was great (Schnitzel & seafood) and pre-empted with a "freebie" mixed salad which was delicious. It seemed to cater for locals which is always a good sign. If you're looking for something a little more real than eating in a hotel restaurant, this great little place immediately opposite is perfect. And dogs are welcome!
