Things to do in Wil
Lovely family run restaurant in pretty woodland setting. Food, service, atmosphere and prices all excellent. Nothing was too much trouble and the staff were attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend.

Eaten here on a number of occasions with friends and family and have never been disappointed. Service is a real plus point and complements the high quality of the food delivered on the plate be it a starter, pasta, pizza, meat/fish main or dessert. Never once had the feeling of being hurried along. Location by the small lake at the foot of the high walled old town of Wil is very attractive. Recommended without hesitation on the strength of numerous visits.

Attractive ambiance and room which is not too large in size and nicely spaced so that one is not overpowered by other diners or unwanted noise. Menu is creative and comprises 4 daily dishes which could all be considered "specials" in their own way and incorporate a soup or salad. Service throughout including menu explanation is second to none and this is later matched by the delicious well cooked and well presented plates of food. Wine choice is more than acceptable and value all round is exceptional. It's a no-brainer in recommending Restaurant Barcelona!

This restaurant offers excellent steaks and it's specialty is Horsemeat steak. I have been there several times and the food and beer has always been top quality. Can definately recommend for anyone on the area. If you look for veggie dish this is probably not your choice. Disadvantage is remote location ( appr. 2km from Uzwil) and not very good parking lot

Delicious Italian food with a rich selection that will not let you down! Italian food comes in two categories: authentic and commercial and this is certainly authentic! The restaurant is located in the old town in Wil which adds to its charm and is in a small house setting with many windows. The atmosphere was nice and warm and the decor of the restaurant was simple but really nice and makes one feel relaxed. The produce is obviously fresh from the taste of the dishes- the gnocchi was excellent and the beef carpaccio with the truffles is not to be missed! Their menu and suggestions are written out on a big board- trust the waitress, she is great! The whole team working there seems very nice actually and was very helpful. The chef is Italian. Since the restaurant owners also have a wine store across the street, their selection is impressive and you can have very good wines there. I strongly recommend this restaurant, but one word of caution and this should not be strange to visitors in Switzerland, it is not cheap but worth the cost.

Admittedly, you've got to know where it is from a starting point in the town of Wil - head along the Konstanzerstrasse and drive to Rossrüti and take a left to Boxloo (in all it's about 5 minutes) - but once found it's a delight especially if the weather is fine. Suitable for a casual visit/special occasion or a business lunch - seating outside is available and provides a wonderful 180 degree panoramic view over countryside and into the mountains (Säntis and Churfirsten). Cuisine and service is of a very high standard and is not charcteristic of "pub" style dining or pub prices. Have lunched on more than one occasion and not been disappointed. Recommended.

excellent restored typical swiss country inn with a very nice outside seating (gastgarten) and the attached barn with open front side.the servants took the order very quickly and with a smile on their face - one feels welcome immediately.the typical lunch menu comes with a soup, main dish and a dessert of fruits.presentation of food, creativity and the taste can be described as excellent.i would not know a negative point during our lunch there.ambience couldn't be much better.this is a very recommendable place to have lunch or dinner - excellent kitchen and feel good ambience.

Thanks to the Guide Michelin I discovered this lovely restaurant, where I enjoyed a flawless dinner. Located within the beautiful Old Town, Hof zu Wil is a 15-minute-walk from the train station.Despite being part of a historic building, the dining room is bright and modern. Thumbs-up for the friendly welcome and most attentive service, partly performed by the tenant herself. The menu is Swiss traditional, with focus on seasonal and regional produce. As starter I had an asparagus tart with fresh spinach leaves - light and tasty. As main course I chose the escalopes of Toggenburg lamb, served with a flavourful ratatouille. Delicious and very generous portion: the lamb was perfectly cooked, rosa and tender. I ended my dinner with a good strawberry crumble. In high-price Switzerland the bill remained reasonable, in particular for dinner time: CHF85 for the whole meal. Definitely an address to remember.
