Best European food near Wells, England, United Kingdom

Best European restaurants nearby. Discover the best European food in Wells. View Menus, Photos and Reviews for European restaurants near you.. The name Wells comes from the city's three wells dedicated to St. Andrew. Now there's a fun factoid to fill up your next awkward silence. In England's smallest city, you won't find the big summer crowds of nearby Glastonbury. Instead, you'll have more than enough room to sight-see as you please. And there are plenty of youth clubs to entertain the kiddies while you wander. The cathedral in Wells is the landmark attraction, but also check out the nearby Bristol Zoo Gardens and International Helicopter Museum.

We had less time in Glastonbury than we had hoped, so I checked Trip Advisor and booked with only a couple of hours' notice. The place was busy, has a good atmosphere, varied clientele, friendly and efficient service and a good drinks list. The food was plentiful and enjoyable. My partner thoroughly enjoyed the burger and I the entree-sized Meze board, which was too much as the main meal for me. It was filled to overflowing with delicious dips, spreads, veggies and bread.Despite this, I managed to fit in an Affogato, one of my favourite after-dinner options, which I only tried as I had never seen it offered with chocolate ice cream before.I enjoyed it very much and found the combination of chocolate ice cream and Frangelico delightful. The best meal we had on our first trip to Devon and Cornwall.

You know that feeling when all you want is a Sunday Roast? Well today we were just about to leave Glastonbury (which does all things vegan and veggie very well) and feeling almost guilty for wanting meat, we came across Abbey Tea Rooms, 4.30ish on a Sunday and you wouldn’t expect a) to be successful or b) to be that lucky but they were awesome. We had very tasty chicken and a good selection of veg and lashing of gravy. Everything we wanted...and we even had a pudding. Oh my goodness the puds were naughty and simply delicious. So I had no change for a tip and so I promised instead a review, this I do with no reservation. The staff were all friendly and attentive and our search for Sunday Roast was not just complete but it was also very very good. We’ll be back and will definitely recommend. Thanks Abbey Tearooms you are stars

We have stayed at the Swan before but been a little disappointed with the dinner. On this occasion the food was outstanding both for dinner and breakfast and given there was a large function in another part of the hotel and a large party in the restaurant the food and service are to be commended. You would not have known how many were being catered for. There was a good choice of excellent food presented and served as you would want.

We were lucky to choose this place for our wedding anniversary meal - absolutely loved everything from the start! The hospitality and service were spot-on, and the food was just amazing, incredibly tasty, fresh and perfectly seasoned. I've never tasted chicken that tender in my life - it was one of those meals that you'll remember for a long, long time. We'll definitely visit again when we're in the area. Can't recommend it enough!

Goodfellows

Reviewed By lauraprice84

This weekend was the first time my husband and I have eaten here in probably 5 years! But what difference to the quality we had then. Our bill was just short of £100 (admittedly a bottle of Prosecco included in this) we’ve had some outstanding food for this amount of money a fair few times over the years, But Goodfellows unfortunately didn’t deliver. We both eat the same. The starter consisted of some dry lamb mince which didn’t taste of anything but lamb. On a CRAZY amount of VERY garlicky Houmous! It was so overpowering we could taste it for at least 24 hours afterwards. Not pleasant, and we didn’t finish it. For our main we had scallops, for which they charge £25. Initially the price wasn’t a problem, I’ll happily pay good money for good food. And the scallops were indeed cooked to perfection and were delicious. It came with the standard pairing of bacon, and a tiny amount of smooth potato purée (certainly not a filling amount) However, the rest of the plate was made up of, yet again, a crazy amount of very undercooked, tough fried leek!! This dramatically devalued the dish for me and was again completely unnecessary. Or at least should’ve been cooked properly, so that they were sweet and soft as they should be. We’re good honest people and believe that if you eat most of a meal, it should of course be paid for. But the food delivered on the night I’m afraid to say, most defiantly did not deserve a tip or a raving review. And we won’t return. 3 stars for pleasant staff, and a lovely bottle of fizz shared with my husband.
