We arrived without booking at 9pm and only two tables were occupied! The restaurant had no character bright lights and out of place furnishings. No English but a simple three course menu in French for 27 euro pp was easy to navigate. Not a great choice, we had salmon gravelax to start which consisted of a few bits of salmon and some other tasteless fish. Loads of lettuce nothing else. Further horror awaited! We choose the faux fillet which turned out to be a hammered piece of stewing meat as raw as it was when it left its maker! Despite requesting medium rare. It insisted of 50% fat and the rest was inedible.I could not eat it so politely deposited same in my serviette and flushed it down the toilet! Served with a doughy potatoe pureand a tiny portion of tinned veg which was not identifiable. The desert which we had to choose on ordering was a homemade dollop of what seemed like soufflé, we could not recognise or identify with it. I went for Fromage select cheeses and I had three pieces of tasteless cheeses. Not to mention a basket of dried bread. The only consumable item was the St Nicholas Rouge but even that at 25 euro a bottle was over priced! All in all 80 euro for the worst meal I have ever had to pay. Seems like a solo owner, chef, waitress establishment judging by the service!! Drive on by!

First, the holiday decorations were beautiful and the escargot was an excellent opening to our dinner; however, the duck that followed was disappointing. It was served nicely sliced but was rare and tough. The braised edges were tender and tasty, but the tough center was not appealing to our taste. Dessert was fine. Service was efficient but slow to respond to requests. If the food had been up to the level of the ambiance this would have been a special evening, but overall it was a disappointment at the price.Dear Sir,Thanks for your few words.Just for the price, your guid pay to the restaurant the less expensive menu and they add their commission so we don't know how much you paid ....But I am sure, you are wright, they ask you to much !Regards,Aurore DUGOUJON

Recommended by locals, so we popped in. Amazing selection of Crepes - from main course to desert. Nice place to enjoy a local type meal with both tourists & locals alike. You'll enjoy...

The welcome was friendly enough but despite a relatively empty restaurant (Tuesday night) service was very slow both on arriving and between courses. We ordered the 23 Euro set menu which sounded great. Each course was beautifully presented but the quality of the cooking of the starters and mains did not match the presentation. The haddock starter was tepid and there were bones. The pea fricassee was also tepid, the peas were hard and not tasty and the sauce was watery. With the main course of belly pork the meat was unevenly cooked and some parts were desiccated. Yet the skin was not crisped. It has to be said that the desserts were very tasty. The wine recommendation was spot on too - we had a half bottle of Saumur red. Shame really.

We stopped here for lunch after exploring Vouvray. It was quite full - a popular place. I had a pizza that was nicely done and very tasty; she had the lunch menu offering and pronounced it average (although it was of substantial size). We each had a glass of Vouvray wine and were both satisfied. The atmosphere is light and airy. Service was efficient and friendly. Prices are moderate. Hello,Thank you for your notes, we are delighted that you had a real good moment. Our team do always their utmost to meet the needs of customers and your message proves that our efforts brings us has success. We hope to see again you quickly to be tasted the best of our dishes,La Scala's team

I would recommend to eat inside rather than outside. Nice table linen and steady service. The food was wonderful, the least popular dish of the evening was the rabbit pate. The dish of the night was the starter of crab with watermelon. The Brick pastry with Sainte Maure cheese was perfect. There are options with the steak tartare, DIY or let the chef prepare it , spicy or non spicy. Interesting main course of summer plate - which was cheeses, salad , melons, bourdin noir & tomatoes, perfect for a balmy summers evening. The sparkling Vouvray was a good reminder of how good it is as a sparkling wine. The house Chinon was very good

We visited this restaurant after finishing lunch at La Roche Le Roy at 3pm.Nice cool structure and entrance, welcoming staff and good wine selection. We tried the squid, pigeon and prawns/langoustine and soufflé. Overall, the squid was the best. The other dishes were very good but not much of the wow factor. On this vacation, we ate at 9 Michelin restaurants in Tours and Paris.Between the above 2 restaurants in Tours, we still prefer La Roche.

This is a restaurant that has a very limited menu and it does not follow the style of food normally seen in French Cuisine. There were none of the French standard type dishes on the menu the night we were there but being adventurous with our food (and appreciating inventiveness and quality) my wife and I were very happy. It makes great use of local produce and of course dispenses the local wines. We both had the marinated sardines, tiny strips of fish with an interesting dressing. Then my wife what on the face of it would be a traditional sausage dish as her main course but it was cut into chunks, sauced and and served with an interesting mix of vegetables and asparagus. I had baked cod with a delicious top crust of a form of pate. The fish was beautifully cooked and resting on a bed green vegetables - broad beans featuring prominently, with occasional little chunks of softly poached rhubarb. It really worked. We weren't tempted by the desserts though - we had to leave relatively early to meet up with some friends. Service was great. There is a big wine list but no half bottles. We had wines by the glass - our hostess chose the wines to match the food. Sitting outside on the terrace was lovely and there were blankets to keep us warm on what was a relatively cool night. Nice evening. Good value for a high quality eating experience.
