This is a place where we go frequently to have fish, which is always perfect. The fish is always fresh, cooked beautifully, their seafood rice is simply amazing. Great restaurant.

In the 10 years we have had a house in the area, A Camponesa has become our favourite local restaurant. While the speciality is fresh fish, they also do excellent Frango (Chicken) and meat. Everything we have had there has been wonderfully cooked on the BBQ and the Salmon is particularly good. Most fish dishes come with boiled potatoes (either with skin or without) while the chicken & meat come with delicious home made chips. Salads are also very good and they do excellent skinned roasted red peppers as a side salad. The house wine is very good and leave room for desert!

Mars Bar is one of the most popular restaurants in Manta Rota. I see that there are only two restaurants noted in the Tripadvisor guide. There are at least ten good restaurants and as many cafes in this area. I am happy to give reviews but Mars Bar should
The indoor part of this long established restaurant is rather uninspiring. It has its own faithful clientele. As a vegetarian I was delighted to get vegetable spring rolls as a starter and a vegetable buritto served with chips and a side salad as my main course. My wife had curried chicken samosas to start and a chicken kebab and ribs dish which was served with baked potato and salad. The food was good without being amazing and given the range of fine restaurants in Manta Rota we wouldn't be in a hurry to go back but having said that if you are looking for good value casual dining which won't break the bank, and if you are happy with burgers or burittos then this could be just the spot for you. They also have a beer garden!

We visited this place specifically after having read the reviews on TA. We arrived at about 9:30pm on a Tuesday night and there was a queue of maybe 20 people waiting ahead of us. We decided to wait a while and ended up waiting for maybe 45 mins, but it was such a beautiful night we didn't really mind. We're a party of 8 (two families) on holiday, but my husband and I had managed to get away on our own and I'm glad we did as I'm not sure this would have suited our kids so well. If yours like shellfish, cheese and meats and aren't looking for a 'full meal', they may well be happy with this, but ours wouldn't. The atmosphere here was great. Lots of families, most local or so it seemed. The whole town was buzzing and we got the impression it really only comes alive after dark, but it was a chilled Portuguese buzz rather than a typical holiday resort buzz - much to our pleasure. We ordered a few oysters to start as my husband had never had them before and it's many years since I've had them myself. Our waiter suggested we get couple of cooked and a couple of raw each to try both. They were incredibly fresh and tasted of the sea - the raw with a squeeze of lemon were particularly nice. My husband doesn't eat cured meats or cheese, so we stuck to the shellfish and bread. I may go back with a friend and try the meats and cheese before we go home. We had the fried prawns and clams - both delicious. This place is definitely worth a try if you're looking for some fresh shellfish cooked perfectly. The lady across from the restaurant with a table selling her homemade cakes also deserves a mention. It was late by the time we visited so she'd sold out of a few types, but had carob, chocolate, fig and cheesecake left. We tried a slice each of the carob and the fig. Just â¬3 for both and they were absolutely delicious. If she spoke English I'd definitely be going back to ask for the recipe.

Our first opportunity to eat out in Manta Rota was on Thursday 30th May - by coincidence Restaurant Essencia na Praia just opened its doors for the first time that day! It was formerly in Cacela but transfered to the premises previousl operated b'Sem Espinas'.What a beautiful romantic setting overlooking the dunes. Comfortable chairs and options of eating inside or outside. Essencia is a real winner! We were bowled over by the warm welcome (we were served by Denise who is a great asset to the restaurant), we were also more than amazed by the food. We both had the gazpacho which was outstanding. I had the vegetable curry and my wife had sea-bass. We had a bottle of rose and a couple of sambuccas. This may be the new kid on the block but it seems poised to become the most popular restaurant in Mant Rota...it certainly deserves to be.We returned twice and I can vouch for the quality of the musroom risotto. My wife had tuna one night and spagetti bolognese another night. The side orders of rosti, sweet potatoes and potato au gratin all lived up to expectations. Each evening we finished our meal with the fresh fruit option because nothing compares to sun-ripened fruit. We couldn't fault the food. They have a pretty comprehensive menu and some very interesting starters. This restaurant alone would encourage us to return to Manta Rota!

The Gastronomy of Chá Com Ãgua Salgada prides itself on an experimental approach to fine dinning by bringing together tradicional Portuguese cuisine with a more modern take, using local produce from the East Algarve ...

Iâve been visiting family with my girlfriend for a little break out of London. My parents took us here for dinner on a Saturday evening saying two words only: âtrust us!âWell, wouldnât you?The restaurant is located on a very relaxing spot, basically facing Ilha de Tavira. A bit out of centre but honestly thatâs the beauty of it, you are surrounded by peace. The place was full (large group for a birthday party), we had a sit outside, starting with their house white and some nibbles. We decided to have dinner at the same table, staff was very accommodating and the owners (a lovely Italian couple) suggested us the daily specials. From the first plate until the last one NOTHING ways wrong. All delicious, all fresh and the portions were absolutely not the ones we have at home in London, they were BIG. Iâve barely been able to finish everything. They impressed me. Totally. The bill as well, far away from what we were thinking to get.I really recommend this restaurant, I saw passion and dedication in everything the two owners were doing (one is the head chef, a total superstar). And passion and dedication is what we should always reward. I will definitely be back.
