Things to do in Turnov
Admittedly, the exterior of the building looks a little rough but like the unsightly oyster, this place is a pearl inside. Don't come looking for haute cuisine, this place serves a large hearty meal to hungry workmen and the neighborhood denizens. Every day the lunch menu is different and features 6-8 entrees and a couple of soup choices. The last time I visited, they offered a complete meal with soup and simple entree for 69 Kc (just under $3 USD). Other entrees go for 69-89 Kc, soups for 25 Kc and ice cold pints of beer are 25 Kc. You can get stuffed with a well prepared, full meal for 125 Kc ($5.00).There is nothing unusual or upscale about the offerings here, they are intended to fill a hungry worker with a substantial meal with about 150 g of meat, a ton of potatoes and a vegetable garnish. The tables are large and seat 6-8 patrons so don't be surprised on a busy lunch hour if you are asked to share a table. It's part of the charm. The food comes out of the kitchen fast and is dished up by a very friendly and accommodating wait staff. Enjoy the big screen midday newscast or the lively background music. Don't be surprised when the waitresses get caught up with the table service and break into a few dance steps. Good food, neighborly patrons and good vibes; all for a rock bottom price. If you can't enjoy this place, you are not a true "traveler". It doesn't get any closer to the ground than this place. If I lived closer, I'd become a regular..!!

We came here during our trip to Czech Republic. We really loved the place. The waitress was very polite and efficient and spoke fluent English. We tried the spaghetti boloignese, the steak and local Czech fish. All were excellent. The side dishes were also good except for the rice. Desert was also good. Prices are reasonable. There is a small kids Park just next to the restaurant.
Stopped here for lunch. It's a busy place just a couple of minutes away from Turnov's main square.Decor is very modern and quite bare. Clearly very popular with Turnov's younger crowd. For lunch there was an abbreviated menu - there is a longer dinner menu - with pub-style & Czech dishes. We were really craving some vegetables at this point and the vegetarian option was salad with fried camembert. Still not very healthy but we were grateful for the salad leaves. The food tasted fine, but nothing extraordinary. You may fare better here with meat dishes, which looked pretty good.Service was fine too but they were clearly very rushed. It didn't entirely hit the spot for me for lunch but I can see this could be a nice place for dinner with friends. A good place in Turnov if you love a brewpub.

I note that previous reviewers had some disappointments here - I'm not sure if they have upped their game now or there is an element of luck.If you are staying at the castle this is pretty much your only choice to have dinner. But we found it to be a pretty good one.Decor is a bit old-fashioned and the dining area is large. Mainly Czech dishes here with the occasional European one.Staff were super friendly and spoke both German and English, this being a tourist-type hotel (though we came across very few English-speaking tourists on this trip to the Bohemian Paradise).Vegetarians were well catered for with a couple of dishes. I had the beef broth for a starter - nice but slightly undersalted. My husband's cream of zucchini soup was tasty. My vegetarian husband had some spaghetti with rocket & sundried tomatoes for a main. My stuffed dumplings with red cabbage were nice and supplied me with my annual calorie allowance. My husband decided to go for the fruit stuffed dumplings for dessert, which came with liquid butter and whipped cream. I'm sure the NHS would issue a health warning against it but it was seriously delicious.Hello,Thank you very much for your review, which we highly appreciate. We will be glad if you visit our hotel again and believe that you will be more satisfied with your choice of dishes. We look forward to you

This brand-new fusion restaurant was recommended to us by the helpful staff at Turnov tourist information. We had lunch there and liked it so much we returned for dinner. We loved the lavish use of fresh local vegetables, the blend of Asian flavours and the carefully selected wine list. The staff were cheerful and helpful and the price was right. Already packed with young locals, this is a worthwhile stop for travellers, as well.

This place is the favorite of an annual visitor to Cesky Raj, and we were not disappointed. I had pork cheeks, which were fantastic, but ou entire group loved their meals. We were in a Cody, small room with stone walls and watched the rain outside. Could not have had a nicer evening. There is a camp nearby, and a number of families were eating on the patio. Kids could play off on the side, with a pond, grassy area, and a nearby creek.

Nice little restaurant, with very good range of pizzas and steaks. Quick, friendly service and good value. A good way to add variety to the usual fare of goulash and dumplings.

We were one of only two occupied tables in a very large dining area. We were surprised by that considering its positive reputation. The renovated building was quite attractive and very well done. The large room and several smaller salons were beautifully decorated for Christmas. All in all, the venue was attractive and romantic. Our waiter and other staff members were very professional, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. We were very satisfied with that aspect of our visit.Regarding the food: I ordered the soup of the day (traditional Czech garlic soup), the duck confit with red cabbage and potato "fingers". For desert, I had the creme brulee. My wife ordered the same soup, grilled ribs with mustard, horseradish and special "forge bread". We both ordered beer. The soup was tasty with a subtle garlic flavor along with smoked meat, potatoes and other root vegetables. It was quite good, served in a bowl that made the serving seem larger than it actually was. At 65 Kc, perhaps it was over priced. My confit meal was superb, flavorful, well plated and ample. No complaints and priced comparably to other similar restaurants. I was disappointed by the creme brulee. At 145 Kc, its portion was quite small and under the burnt sugar crust, the custard was unset and quite runny; looser than what I am accustomed to. Beer prices ran about 30% higher than other venues. My wife's rib dinner was an absolute failure. It is obvious that with only two occupied tables, the kitchen could not be serving freshly grilled ribs. They had to have been cook well in advance and reheated upon order. The ribs were slathered in a very tasty sauce, perhaps a BBQ/honey blend. The only other items on the plate were two types of mustard and some freshly grated horseradish. Honestly, the horseradish was the best thing on the plate. With the sweet glaze on the ribs, it is hard to imagine anyone using mustard with them. Obviously the mustard was there just to occupy space on an otherwise empty plate. The bread was nothing special, in fact, it was served cold with no accompanying spread as is common in most other eateries. We suspect it to be at least day old: cold and hard, bordering on stale. To the ribs; they were not at all tender as you would expect from slow roasted meat. They were dry and tough. Our suspicion is that they were too long in a microwave; can't think of another explanation. The bad news is that my wife spent the next two days with gastro-intestinal distress. All indicators point to possibly tainted ribs. We cannot be certain enough to point a strong finger as to the cause, but even so, the presentation and condition of her meal is a deal breaker. Will we return? Yes, we will give them another chance, perhaps in the Spring. We really must because friends gave us a 1500 Kc/$75.00 gift certificate that we really should use. Regarding value, comparable meals in similar local restaurants would run about 30% less. The ambiance and renovated building may warrant a visit but this will not become a regular stop for us.

Modern and Italian gastronomy in Jablonec nad Nisou. Naples pizza, pasta own production, steaks and fresh seasonal salads.
This enterprise placed in good looking new building has really very cozy and warm atmosphere. We have been offered Minestrone soup on our visit but it has not interested us as much as Arrabiata and Cinquantano spaghetti. Pasta was very fresh and the taste absolutely perfect with no need to add in any salt or pepper. Tripadvisor says prices are high here. I just say it is not in comparison to Prague and it is not taking into consideration the quality and amazing feeling after eaten meal.Thank you for nice feedback. We are very pleased about it. Your opinion is important for us, really!Ales Prochazka
