In 2006 started the undertaking of opening up an âurban barbecue placeâ in the history-charged, former free zone warehouse in the city of St.Gallen. After almost two years of planning, the Restaurant Lager- haus was finally opened in October 2007. Since O
Second time at this restaurant and both times were really average. Food is not so tasty, lousy whiskey selection and cold atmosphere. Will not be back.

Fondue here is superb definitely. Holy cheese and can be really awesome on a cold day. Really good cheese. Staffs are friendly too. Superb.

It was probably just a thermostat malfunctioning, but there was definitely an over-heating problem at Anker on the evening we dined there. Almost every diner was perspiring, despite having removed jackets or sweaters. Not quite dripping. But enough discomfort to reduce an otherwise 5-star rating to only 4-stars.Apart from the heating malfunction, our experience mirrored that of other reviewers. Everything -- ambience, service, quality of ingredients, cooking skill and presentation -- was as near perfect as we could imagine. Delicious Venison Saltimbocca; a big, tasty Steak Tartare; good local beer and fine Rioja wine; plus a couple of bottles of water. A little expensive, perhaps, at 108 Swiss Francs, but not outrageous in relation to the exceptional quality of this restaurant. We would have stayed to eat more. But the heat problem diminished our appetites as well as our enjoyment.

Went to this bistro for dinner on a Monday night, when many of the other restaurants in the area were closed. The service was excellent and staff were attentive. The food was quite good and well presented. Nice atmosphere, located in the old town area, a couple blocks from the abbey cathedral. Prices a bit higher than expected, a bit fancier than other bistros, more of a fine restaurant. There was a special event of some type going on in the adjacent bar, so we were treated to some excellent piano music, courtesy of the guest pianist. A topnotch dining experience.Dear OregonOpus,Thank you very much for taking the time to review your dinner at the Bistro St.Gallen. We are very pleased that you enjoyed our menu and that we were impressed by the staff. Already now we are looking forward to welcome you back to the Bistro, the Einstein Bar or the Einstein Gourmet.Best regards,Michael VogtGeneral ManagerBistro - Gourmet - Bar

Were invited by family members. Food and drinks were delicious. Lovely atmosphere and views to Santis mountain range. Thoroughly enjoyed our one-hour, often humorous, guided tour of the amazing, huge home that houses the restaurant. Learned how Swiss lived, worked and produced food in generations past. A magical, unforgettable evening.

We were visiting family in Switzerland and decided last minute go have a diner after shopping. We entered the restaurant and a friendly waitress told us no problem for table for 4. She went back to get menus, when she shortly talked to a male waiter. He looked us up and down, shaked a head at a waitress... she turned around and walk back apologizing they are âfullâ and recommended some sub-par restaurant for us.My mother in law (80) was truly offended, so were we. We did not look like bums, just regular jeans and jackets. I guess we were not good enough for them... I was never treated so rudely by restaurant in my life and was in much more upscale restaurants...Dear diverMissWe do remember your visit very well and we still are sorry that we could not welcome you in our restaurant that evening. Unfortunately we were fully booked that evening. We had some empty tables in the main restaurant but we also had some large banquets in the upper floors of the restaurant and as we always want to give our best for our costumers we decided not to take more costumers that evening. There was a sign at the entrance door of the restaurant saying: We are sorry, we are fully booked. Obviously you did not see this sign, so we had to tell you again upstairs that we are not able to serve you and we were sorry about it! We would be very happy to welcome you again and prove you that we do know costumer service! Kind regardsThe Schlössli Team

My friend told me he would show me a very traditional place in Switzerland. Everything here looks nice, the landscape, there are animals to see, the place is confortable to eat, not quiet but a place to go with family, friends, and just have a good time. You can order traditional dishes and when you finish, visit the whole place, you will find very interesting things about swiss history.
