Whenever we visit family in Terrebonne, we always go to the Vieux (Old) Terrebonne for dinner. It was our first time visiting Chez Fabien which is located right next to their local theatre/playhouse, so the place was packed for a Thursday night. We were not able to sit outside on the terrace which was fine, since the inside was nicely decorated. A very popular dish in Quebec these days is called the Bavrette which is a flank steak that has to be marinated and cooked to perfection, otherwise it is like eating rubber. Both my wife and I tried it since the server stated it was their speciality. This restaurant cooked it just right with just the right amount of charcol taste and flavour. The server was excellent. Very experienced waiter, knew what to recommend as far as wines, meals to try, etc. He realized that the four of us wanted to catch up so he didn't interupt our conversation which we appreciated. Overall, a great experience and we will be returning on our next trip to Montreal.

A discovery in a quiet street of Old Terrebonne. A super friendly restaurant where everything is served fresh. We went a group of girls for coffee and deserts... hum hum hummmmmm. All of us were thrilled by the taste, variety AND most importantly friendliness of the place. Eventhough we were late a bit, never did we have the impression to be rushed nor pushed, we were served promptly and we even took some take out as it was too delicious. Will go back for full meal this time.

The warm decor and pleasant reception set the tone for a delightful evening with friends. While the restaurant specializes in Fondues and Raclettes, the menu also offers an interesting variety of other choices that were just as tempting. The fresh an perfectly seasoned Ceasar salad and the shrimps au Pernod were very good indeed. Rather than grated directly from the wheel of cheese, the Raclette came in the form of melted slices, typically served with boiled potatoes, small gherkins and pickled onions; a simple but delicious way to celebrate an early winter day. By the way, when very thinly sliced and served separately, the cold Grison air dried beef makes for an ideal companion with the cheese. A drop of Fendant or Pinot Gris with that and you'll be as happy as can be. With the restaurant being almost next door to the Terrebonne Theater, it would be a good idea to arrive early to find a parking spot relatively close by.
