Great environment! it's just couple of meters away from the marvelous Medaketiya beach.Shali and his family are so friendly and pleasant that you won't like to leave this place. What a beautiful place beautiful views and the best food in Tangelle! I had the Sri Lankan rice and curry omg it was amazing! From the minute I walked in till the time I left everything was just awesome! If u want to experience proper Sri Lankan rice and curry do visit this gorgeous place where the service is also number 1! I wish I found this place when I arrived in Tangelle cause that seafood looked very yummy as well! Thank you Sadeep and the rest of the staff for making my experience so memorable. Ruwani's place is a humble garden style restaurant where she cooks delicious and freshly made meals out of the back of her house.The devilled tuna and the rice plate with local veggies and daal is to die for.There are also other good dishes to try and don't forget freshly squeezed juices. Very well priced , we eat daily and will definitely recommend it to all our friends.

We had walked along the lovely beach and stopped for lunch. Decided to order some 'western food' but when we noticed our neigbours food we changed our minds- and had delicious prawn & vegetable curries! Great location just by the sea by the way. Will be back for lunch some of the coming days!

We enjoyed Christmas Eve dinner at Ulpatha during our stay. It was a 5 course delight of fabulous food -lobster bisque, scallops, sorbet, confit leg of duck and chocolate desert. Every course was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. Aside from the wonders of the kitchen staff the service we received from Shashi was first class. He was attentive,efficient, friendly and just excellent at his job which made the experience very special for us. The restaurant manager was also amazing and took time out of what was a busy evening to chat with us and his story of coming home to allow him to train and develop others like Shashi is testament to both him and Shangri-La. Our experience was so enjoyable we dined in the restaurant again for our Christmas Day dinner and were once again impressed by the food and the fabulous service from Shashi - thanks Team Ulpatha!

We just walked by this place randomly and chat with mother and son for couple of minutes, enough to decide to give it a try... We were surprised about how good was the food, we can even say that is the best rice and curry we have tried after 3 months in Sri Lanka, (therefore, many many rice and curries!!)... "Cordon blue" chicken was also delicious if you feel like "not so sri lankan food :-). Anyway the best is the attention of the family, they are the best and will do everything they can to help you, including big efforts to manage to hire a scooter!!! We would be back here every day if we could!

We ate at this awesome restaurant every day of our 4 days in tangalle, we tried lots of different dishes and they were all amazing, so delicious! Drinks were great too! Really nice vibe, great service from the really awesome owner. Definitely the best food and drinks we had in our 3 weeks in Sri Lanka.

I was charged 890 rupees for vegetable curry and rice!!! I had 3 small vegetable dishes, (one dal and 2 vegetables), 4 popadams and rice! On the menu this was the price for chicken, prawn or squid curry plus three vegetables. I was charged this amount with no chicken, prawn or squid. When I asked the owner about the price he was very dismissive. Don't even think of going here.

Reasonably priced restaurant with amazing views and very attentive staff. The restaurant is at a raised height with ocean views. The food was very tasty and so well presented. The only minus was the ridiculous price of the wine menu, with very ordinary wines starting from £40 per bottle!
