The Berghof Fetz is a favourite of my parents. Sitting there in the sun on the terrace an enjoying the view over the Bregenzerwald it s a special place. The menu has all the favourite local dishes, I would recommend ether the Tafelspitz or the Kaespaetzle.

The views from this place are amazing. It's a guesthouse and restaurant. It has outside seating and a varied menu. It offers a selection suitable for vegetarians too. They created a lovely salad for us whilst others had meat and fish options which were all very tasty. Highly recommended for food and location.

Top 10 Austrian food in Schwarzenberg, Austrian Alps, Austria

The Messnerstüble is a delightful little restaurant in the picturesque village of Schwarzenberg. The food isn't gourmet -- it is very well prepared, down-home, simple Austrian food (Wienerschnitzel, local lake fish), served in a gemütlich atmosphere. Their "fitness teller" (salad with fresh fruit, yogurt dressing and a chicken breast) makes for a superb, light meal. There is a wide variety of desserts. On nice days you can sit outside and watch the parade of locals go by.

To help you better understand my reviews, my wife and I are independent travelers in our mid-60s. While we definitely like a bit of luxury and enjoy good food, we usually find five-star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants too pretentious. We have dined at the Gasthof Adler on many occasions while attending the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. The food is "nouvelle" with Austrian touches (particularly in their choice of ingredients). The food is consistently excellent, with many interesting choices on the menu. The specials follow what is available locally and seasonally. On our most recent visit, we took a friend out to lunch and had the most wonderfully light housemade ravioli filled with Pfifferlinge (German for chanterelles). We always look forward to dining here. In good weather, sitting out in their garden is delightful. And when it is cold and rainy, the interior is divided into a number of small rooms with only a few tables in each room, so dining is intimate.

To help you better understand my reviews, my wife and I are independent travelers in our mid-60s. While we definitely like a bit of luxury and enjoy good food, we usually find five-star hotels and Michelin starred restaurants too pretentious. We've dined at the Alte Mühle many times while attending the Schubertiade in Schwarzenberg. We always enjoyed it, but I have to admit that the last two times the service hasn't been what it was when we first ate here. The pluses: the menu has interesting dishes, all very well prepared, and the setting is as romantic as it gets. The minuses: The last two times we have eaten here the service has been very slow and the meal took too long -- the restaurant only seats about 25. This was because the kitchen was overstressed with too many diners coming at the same time. This isn't the restaurant's fault -- most of the diners are attending concerts at the Schubertiade and so come when the 4:00 concert lets out, or at 6:00, with plans to attend the 8:00 concert. Slow service certainly wouldn't be a problem if you dined here when Schubertiade is not on -- it affects all the restaurants in the entire area as the concerts attract about 700 music lovers. Some special notes: they only take cash!! Austrians like their food salty, so Americans may find some dishes a little too salty for their taste. If Zwetschgenstrudel is featured for dessert, order it!.

Quite a stunning establishment. The dining rooms are so full of charm. We were fortunate enough to arrive early and were seated directly under the traditional "Herr Gottswinkel" - Crucifix flanked by two delightful reverse glass paintings. The view out of the window onto the square and church is just wonderful. The food is not bad either. In fact the food is very good.
