Me and my family have been recently visiting Saransk and decided to have a dinner in a brand new restaurant "Panorama" in Four Points by Sheraton hotel. The food is wonderful, great service and a nice view. Although the evening started good with a nice mushroom soup, things started to get bad... Service not good at all. We had to wait long to order. When ordering a second drink it never came. Dirty dishes stayed on the table although the servant came to take the order of our second dish. Then the food. My camentbergburger was really disgusting. I don't know if they ever have been in France to taste real camentberg cheese, but this was nothing like it. With the burger also came French fried. Sadly enough it was not French fries with salt, but salt with French fries. The other people on the table had also too much salt in their food.My advice if you are in Saransk, better not eat in Bizon but better go to another animal ;) (big pig). There the food is much better and service is as it should be for this price level. PS, For non Russian speaking people bad luck, there is no English menu.

Great atmosphere in this local restaurant, beautifully located by the canal. The menu is very rich, with options for meat, seafood and veggies cooked in different styles.Impressive place, fully traditional, designed and built locally The evening we visited (Friday night) there was live music and entertainment. If too noisy, book a tale on the second floor.

I visited for the bar. I ordered the 500ml of local beer 150.This restaurant is very cool and romantic. The waitresses is very very friendly. I liked their menu because they had fish dumplings (pelmeni) - I like dumplings, but can't eat the usual meat dumplings because of my gout. The dry red wine they served by glass was OK - frequently you can only get wine by bottle. I had some problems with my gout next day, though, and had to take pills, therefore I suspect the dumplings were actually made with meat, at least in part. Their prices for the desserts are far too high, compared to the prices of the main dishes. The interiors are quite nice, though, reminding of home.

The Big Pig is a very happening place, with excellent food and great atmosphere. The only drawback is that it very popular so it may be difficult to get a table at pick-hours and that is closes at 24:00.The menu may seem limited (especially if you come often). The appetizers are great, the meat is grilled to perfection, plenty of side dishes to choose from. I did not have a chance to try the desserts, but they looked very good.Decent wine list, reasonably priced.The staff is very kind and professional, the place is "cool" and dynamic. There is also a cool veranda.
