This is a steak house, Italian style. Beef and buffalo of US, Australian, Italian and possibly other origins, in various cuts, well prepared. Probably more unusual for an Italian than an American. They serve you a small complimentary antipasto while you wait for you main dish.Typical Italian vegetables accompany the meat. You also get a hot salt rock to heat your pieces on if they cool down. The wine list is not very long but well chosen and nicely priced (we had a Lagrein from Alto Adige). We ate early and the service was quick and friendly as you'd expect. They speak very limited English.Obviously, don't go here for a typical Italian meal, but it's a nice venue for a carnivorous interlude.

Locale che ha tutto per essere un punto di riferimento per i celiaci a Mantova. Dal dolce al salato si trova tutto senza glutine. A colazione brioche e cornetti farciti, fatti giornalmente. Il pranzo piadine express ben fatte e a prezzi onesti. Tutto condito dalla gentilezza e cordialità e disponibilità dei due proprietari con i quali è un piacere scambiare quattro chiacchiere. Consigliatissimo

We have been eyeing up this restaurant for10 days but never finding it open (august holiday?) and tonight it didn't disappoint ! All of us loved the food and drinks. The waiter kindly told me about the portion size (generous) and so I.we could amend our order. The quality was really good and the food, drink and service represented tip top value for money. Only downside was no music and as we were among the first diners, we would have liked a little bit if music.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at Giallozucca, a very pretty restaurant hidden away in a courtyard in central Mantova. The owner recommended a Pinot Grigio from Friuli and it was perfect with my Pumpkin Tortellini. My husband had very well-flavoured grilled beef and cubed, roasted potatoes. We had traditional choices as we are only in Mantova for a short time and wanted to eat local dishes but the menu had many non-traditional touches worth trying such as some Asian touches and ingredients. Food at other tables looked delicious. The owner was most hospitable and fun with very good English. Service was very professional and a small, complementary starter of pumpkin soup a nice touch. The bill was a most reasonable 35 Euros.

This is a place in Mantua which serves fantic Italian food. The owners are very dedicated to their job, and do everything to please their guests. The menu is only in Italian, but that does not matter when your are open minded and positiv.Food was excellent and exiting and at low price.5 stars!

In Mantua something different LaCucina translates into a modern dimension the old concept of "dining" welcoming the guest in a relaxed and family environment. The menu offers both traditional and contemporary cuisine dishes maintaining the simplicity and
We would have loved to try the specialities of the restaurant. After an aperitivo we were heading towards la cucina for dinner. All looked very promising with a nice menue and food on the tables outdoors looking & smelling deliciously. We asked the waiter if she had a table for us. We were âredirectedâ to a colleague who rejected us in a way we experienced as very rude. We never had a similar experience in Italy. Still wondering what we did wrong. Be aware of that if you consider to chose this restaurant.

We were made to feel so welcome here by the friendly staff. They speak good English and nothing was too much trouble. The restaurant is tucked away behind the domed Basilica San Andrea, but just a few minutes on foot. The food was truly delicious and all the staff were helpful and enthusiastic, yet quiet and unobtrusive. When we booked for a second dinner here the chef prepared extra gluten free delicacies specially for my wife. We loved the range of different foods showcasing the specialities of Mantova and of Sicily. Highly recommended!

WE'D LIKE TO INFORM OUR GUESTS THAT WE ARE CLOSED FOR SUMMER HOLIDAYS IN AUGUST,STARTING ON THE 14th AND UP TO THE 24th. FURTHERMORE, IN AUGUST WE'LL OPEN ONLY FOR DINNER (WE ARE CLOSED AT LUNCH TIME). THANKS FOR YR ATTENTION!
This was our favourite meal experience in Mantua and one of the best meals I've ever eaten in Italy. It's about twenty minutes' walk from the city centre and the place seemed to be full of locals and regular diners.  We loved everything about this place: the gentleman who looked after our table (who I believe was Carlo, the owner), was so warm and friendly and had such pride in the restaurant and the food they were serving. We were seated outside on the garden patio and enjoyed the most exquisite food, absolutely made with love. I ordered the steamed pumpkin flowers stuffed with ricotta as an antipasto and it was divine. I savoured every mouthful very slowly. The presentation was also fabulous - one of the nicest dishes I ate over the entire trip. My husband had the 'spaghetti alla chitarra' with crispy culatello for his starter which was also excellent. For my main I went for ravioli filled with aubergine and a soft Italian goat's cheese with cherry tomatoes and basil. My husband opted for their pork dish, cooked at a low temperature and served with Dijon mustard and apples caponata. Both dishes were close to perfect. We couldn't fit in a dessert unfortunately but we had a nice bottle of Valpolicella from the Veneto.Everything about the place suggests a high-end restaurant - except the prices that is. My starter was â¬10 and our pasta dishes from â¬12 -â¬14.  They also offer the option of a half portion of pasta for about â¬8 - such a great idea as it allows you to try three courses without being completely stuffed to the gills. The surprise here was that the pork dish was also only â¬14. Excellent value overall. One of my favourite things about this place was the motto on their menu - "We do not charge cover - your presence here is a great pleasure for us". It certainly felt like that and we were treated like kings. One to revisit in the future for sure.Â

This homey trattoria is the only restaurant of consequence near the Residenza La Villa, and our host directed us there the first night of our stay. With its Italian country decor and cuisine, the restaurant benefits from a pleasant, relaxing atmosphere and a warm, friendly staff. Our multi-lingual waiter was a font of information about the menu, and delighted in chatting up visitors. The fare here is unusual, a blend of the traditional and the contemporary, with an emphasis on local specialties. Our calamari starter was a bit tough, but the branzino carpaccio was succulent, and the quail risotto we shared had a rich, smoky taste, complimented by a sauce of merlot and local cheese. Not everything on the menu may be to everyone's taste, but for those willing to go beyond their comfort zone, you won't go away hungry.
