Reviews on European food in San Gimignano, Province of Siena, Italy. San Gimignano, known as the "city of beautiful towers," had 72 towers in its heyday. Now 14 remain, and, rising above Tuscany's Elsa Valley, they make the town look like a medieval dreamscape. Take in the fresco-covered Collegiate Church, the Civic Museum and the views from atop 177-foot Torre Grossa. Daytrippers from Florence tend to fill up the streets during the day, so for a more up-close-and-personal look at the town, spend the night.

We stayed one night in the area and chose to go to this spectacular place and we are so glad that we did! The service was absolutely tremendous and the pasta was one of the best I have ever tasted. Fantastic local wine and cannot wait to return! We wish we were staying longer so we could go again. Highly recommended for excellent food, wine and service!

This is a huge restaurant, however in late March it was almost empty in the evening. It's very fresh and well decorated with a modern twist. The food was excellent. Good portion sizes and all at very reasonable prices. The house wine could also not be faulted at the price. The waitress was very efficient and did not rush us, all very relaxed. If your looking for good quality at good prices I would search this place out. It's not your normal authentic little restaurant but has lots of plus points to make it worth a visit.Check the opening hours as its closed late afternoon until early evening.

My husband and I visited San Gimignano for the first time and for one night only - this was a perfect restaurant selection... we enjoyed veal appetizer, lasagne, wild boar and traditional vegetable/bread dish ... atmosphere was beautiful and Andre our waiter was very helpful . Unfortunately we were too late to get a table outside but inside was very nice also - local Chianti was excellent - recommend this restaurant !

Olivieri Bistrot just looks great as you walk past and invites you in - crisp tablecloths, great lighting and plenty of tables outside if you fancy dining al fresco. We were warmly greeted and sat outside - there were only two waiting staff but they made it look effortless and the service was great.Generally, portions sizes were generous and we could have each shared the starters we ordered, cold meats / cheeses and three of us the salted cod, and all were fabulous. For our main course a couple of us went for the tagliatelle bolognese (again lovely), pasta with salmon and the prawns - again clean plates for us all. This was all washed down with a couple of bottles of Brunello di Montalcino. It is a little on the pricey side compared to similar meals that we had elsewhere (285 Euros inc service) but it was a lovely meal and we would be happy to return.

We found this wonderful place here at TripAdvisor and decided to have a birthday dinner there tonight. The food, drinks and service was excellent. We had an aperitif, a starter, pizza, wine, dessert and digestif. Everything was perfect.

Do the tasting menu for a full experience. There are two amazing restaurants in San Gimignano, this one and Cum Quibus...and they are within steps of each other. If you have 2 nights, you will not be disappointed with both. This is the type of meal you are hoping for when you are a foodie visiting Italy for 3 weeks!

The staff at this lovely hotel are very professional but friendly. The restaurant was very popular with locals as well as the guests staying here: the service was excellent and the food spot on. Our room was not huge but the shared terrace with the terrific view of the Tuscan countryside was. We loved our stay here and it rated as one of the best of the eight hotels we stayed in on this holiday.

We sought out this restaurant, based on reviews, for our last night in Tuscany. We are so glad we did! The service was friendly, the food very nice and wine reasonably priced. Steak is their specialty and was great! We had the mixed platter, spaghetti pomodoro, fillet steak and tiramisu between 5.... everything was devoured! Grazie per la sue recensione, lieti di aver soddisfatto le sue aspettative ci auguriamo di rivedervi presto.

Our intimate gourmet AL 43 under the direction of chef Maurizio Bardotti offers an unforgettable fine dining experience. The cuisine, both modern but in harmony with the age-old Tuscan traditions, incorporates the finest of seasonal ingredients. Whether s
We had the entire restaurant for ourselves - what a treat. Hotel has closed for the winter and it was a Wednesday which explains our fortune. Let me start with best part; the team of servers, sommelier and cooks. They were fantastic, friendly, warm, professional, educational and detail oriented. They were there as needed but not noticed at the same time. The tasting menu with wine pairing was a magnificent treat. Allowing yourself to be guided by true artist down a flavor experience can be risky but when done superbly as it was last night, it makes for an extraordinary memory. Extra special when shared with your lovely spouse. On our next trip to San Gimignano we will stay at the hotel to receive the total immersion. Thank you CubansamHouston_TX for writing such a marvellously glowing review of AL 43. We were pleased to have served you and equally happy to have you enjoy your meal. We will look forward to your return and possible stay in our Locanda dell' Artista. Warmest wishes,Baker Bloodworth
