On one of our first days in Uzès we were wandering the main road looking for a good place for lunch. The menu at le Fournil caught our eye, and the friendly owner on the sidewalk convinced us to give it a try. Glad we did. The food was delicious, and service was warm and friendly. It seems to be a family-run establishment, and popular with the locals. Of course, they were very welcoming to tourists as well, but I'm always happy to find a place that's not a tourist trap. We tried a salad, a charcuterie plate, steak frites, and Brandade de Morue, which is apparently a specialty of this region. It's a deliciously interesting concoction of potato and salt cod, with some places adding bits of chorizo/pepperoni. It sounded a bit odd but I'm so glad I tried it. It was absolutely delicious. I noticed that several other restaurants in town serve it, and some even put it on pizza. The version at Le Fournil was wonderful. The steak also was delicious. One note for Americans dining in France for the first time -- they tend to serve their beef much bloodier than we do in the USA, so if you ask for it medium it will be more like medium rare. If that makes you squeamish be clear when you order and they will happily cook it to your specifications. We went for medium rare, and it most definitely was red on the inside! And delicious. We skipped dessert but had a couple of good coffees. Would happily dine here again, and happily recommend to others.

A lovely classy restaurant with excellent ambiance. I must admit once again that the fish here in Uzès is nothing but superb. I had cabillaud or cod, so beautifully cooked that another 30 seconds would have seen it spoiled! However the ratatouille was almost as good as the fish itself. The flavours so perfectly complimented the dish.My husband had the Cochon or pork. This was on a lovely mash and the meat itself melted in your mouth it was so tender. The cost was a few euros dearer than in the less select places but worth every cent.We will come again.

Our travels through Languedoc have included a continuing search for fine food at reasonable prices. We stumbled on Le 80 Jours in Uzes shortly after emerging from the underground car park in the heart of the town. On a street lined with sidewalk patios, we noticed the sign indicating Le 80 Jours had a Jardin. We jumped and werenât disappointed. Small salads to start, followed by beautifully prepared Poitrine de veau brassie, sauce dâune provencal with fresh steamed green beans and a bulgar pilaf. Dessert were nougat glacé, coulis des framboises and a delectable fromage blanc aux pommes, crumble et sauce-caramel. Cafe au lait closed the meal. The garden setting was very peaceful and quiet, shielding us from the noisy chaos of the Centre Ville. A real gem.

Sadly this is a review of the service and attitude of one of the 2 brothers as opposed to the food. Even more disappointing as we couldn't get a table last year so we were eagerly awaiting this meal. We arrived on time for our booking to a cold greeting to say the least. The next comment was "Here are the menus, I assume you're all fluent in French". As it happens I am so am always pleased to be translator but any need for the bad attitude? We then asked if there was a kids menu. He pointed to the fact that they do not have one and it is stated on the menu. Fair enough but normally people offer am alternative, for example a smaller portion! His comment was that children aren't the target market...Maybe not but we are and they will be in the future, if they have one!We left and went to one of the many other excellent restaurants in Uzes with more welcoming hosts.Cher Monsieur My brother and I we thank you very much for your review of last week. However we deeply regret that your experience with les Deux Frères dâUzès did not correspond to your expectations. There might be a misunderstanding between you and us, as our spot is first a wine cave before being a restaurant. As such, we serve a wide range of regional wines per bottle or by the glass around tapas or simple meals pairing with the selected beverages. Therefore, you might understand that we do not offer special meals for children, as they are not allowed to drink alcohol. We do hope that you have enjoyed your stay in Uzès and that you have found another restaurant which was more convenient to you and your very young child.Regards

The restaurant is basically outside but partly under some arches hence the name.I had the grilled St.Marcellin cheese which was a little bowl of melted cheese, followed by tuna steak served with a vegetable salsa and a little bowl of cheesey mashed potato. The tuna was perfectly cooked and was delicious. For dessert I had the banoffee pie which was tasty and surprisingly light.Excellent service and great ambience.129⬠for four was good value considering the rest of the party had 6 glasses of wine amongst them

This restaurant is in the little town and is allied to the butcher in the town. All the meat served here comes from their butcher. The steak and steak tartare were absolutely gorgeous and the portions were very generous. There is a lovely courtyard style outdoor dining area-we booked ahead and made sure we were able to have an outdoor table. The service let the place down a bit-not everyone wants to linger for ages between courses, especially when they have small children in tow.Nevertheless, the meal was really good and not too expensive, so it gets a good overall score and we would return.

Ignore your GPS, if you value your life and your car. Follow the little purple signs for the hotel and it will save you much (but not all grief). The tiny town wasn't made for modern motor vehicles, and GPS, at least ours, was suggesting we turn the wrong way down one way alleys The restaurant/hotel has ample parking and that is a God send in this automobile unfriendly landscape. It is definitely worth finding this civilized and well manicured little oasis on the fringe of an interesting village. The young chef knows what he is doing, and the Irish lass, your waitress, is charming. A very fair 29 Euro menu du Marche makes for an ample and elegant lunch. A la carte entrees will take the tab up a bit, but not a great deal. Sitting out on the terrace on a fine Spring day embodies so much of the good life in France. The hotel looks like both a good buy and a very comfortable spot-if you find Uzes too busy.Go light on the wine-if you have to navigate your way out of the maze.

This café is charming. Huge variety of salads, tartines, tartes, moules and pizzas. Service is fast and effective, waiters can have a lot of personality in an aggressive but not off-putting sense. Great wines and beers, good place to hang out with friends.merci pour votre venue au vieux café,et merci pour votre commentaire â¦â¦ mais pour info nous n'avons pas de "moules " à la carte !un large choix de bières à la pression , en bouteilles, pour les amateurs de bonnes bières â¦et concernant le serveur je vais faire ma petite enquête â¦..bon séjour en France
