Very nice to have lunch or dinner on the terrace, great view, big plates with lots of homemade products as the French fries, even the mayonnaise is homemade! The prices are very reasonable especially as lots of products are bio.

We had lunch here with a group of friends. The food was very good, the house wine very drinkable, and the service excellent. All of that at very reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

What a pleasant surprise! We had an excellent lunch which was reasonably-priced (â¬90 - 3 courses + wine for 4). The rustic terrine was the highlight starter, although the others were also very good. For mains we chose Papillote and Cote de Boeuf. Both excellent - properly cooked and served faultlessly. Deserts too did not fail to impress. We shall definitely visit again!

Unplanned and un-reviewed we found this place next to the chateau, unfortunately with no internet signal to assess the Tripadvisor ratings. The decor is vibrant and enticing. The small upstairs space is very genial, c=downstairs I believe is a place for entertainment - big and light. The food was well below average and overpriced. We cancelled desert and coffee. Some more French rehired by myself to comprehend the French reviews but Im told by a reliable source (a local French person) it is well rated at number 4 in this town. In fact I think its better to dive on if this is the only place you can get a table. If you love good decor, and are not fussed about below average food, this is the place for you.

Welcome and quality of service meet you at the Bistrot of Château de Saint-Fargeau. Wood, beams and natural stone mingle with modern decoration, between simplicity and refinement. You can relax at the bar or discover a breathtaking view in the dining room
Very slow service and high prices for food you can find in the frozen section of the local supermarket. Don't waste your money.

Very friendly and they spoke English and Spanish. Very accommodating to children & odd requests (like a pizza without cheese!) food good quality and I particularly liked the huge Italian salad. It seemed to fill up after 8pm, but we were first there both nights at 7pm.

We were staying at the wonderful Chateau De Saint-Fargeau . Our charming hostess recommended that we try the Opera Restaurant out of gate on the right, which we did. We had a great meal at a good price and served by charming staff. As we left we thought that just for variety we would book for the next evening at the DEMOISELLE which is the other side of the Castle gate . On the way back to our accommodation I popped in and asked if we could book for the next day, Saturday. The place was not busy, the early rush having finished. I was fairly haughtily told to come back in the morning by a staff member with whom we were to become familiar. This I did but wondered why it was too much trouble to do it on the spot. When I booked I requested a table outside looking over the square and the Castle. When the four of us arrived at the appointed time there was confusion. We were told that by mistake our table had been given to a "walk in party." They quickly found us another table also on the terrace. Strange goings on, there were several tables available, we would have been none the wiser had they just given us another table and not told us that they had messed up the booking. We sat down and waited, for 15 minutes, I know the time because I was monitoring an auction item on EBay. My guests were becoming restless. Then the table next to us filled up, and within seconds had a menu. It had been a hot day and we needed a drink. Frustrated I politely asked the passing waitress if we could order drinks. She flounced away shouting over her shoulder that she had "other clients you know". The people on other tables looked shocked at her behaviour, one local said out loud "charming". I believe the waitress's name to be Natalie, young, dark hair, glasses, grumpy expression. After a few more minutes I got bored and went inside and helped myself to some menus.Eventually we were able to place a drinks and food order which was taken in a very off hand manner, absolutely charmless. With lots of deep sighs when we asked a couple of questions. Not sure how anyone can be so rude from overwork (?) at 7.30 in the evening. They all looked over worked and short staffed, but a trained professional would not have taken it out on the paying customers. We asked for a wine recommendation, which we ordered. Five minutes later we were told they had sold out.It was a limited menu, three choices , this was undoubtedly because there was a big annual medieval event in the Castle grounds (absolutely amazing). However I do wish that that had been pointed out when we booked.we were expecting more choices. The food was very good , very tasty. After the meal we asked order a digestive each. The selection was very limited, but we ordered what there was. I had been sitting all evening looking through an open window straight at an impressive looking coffee machine and so I asked if they served cappuccino. We were now being served by another waitress , a great improvement, who actually seemed to value the customers. She was not sure and asked the question of our first waitress who was passing. Who gave me a killer look, and sighed , laughed loudly and shot "No" over her departing shoulder. At this point the table next to us, who had been waiting some time got up and left. Strangely the same waitress had during our prolonged visit turned away two "walk in" foursomes as they were "Complet". Those two tables were empty all evening.I have to believe that "our" server must be a family member as I cannot see that an employee behaving like that would be tolerated. What could have been a great evening spoiled by a petulant self important spoilt child. Pity. Wish we had gone back to the Opera, where in addition to the good food they know how to smile. Overall the evening was saved by the fantastic spectacle in the Chateau de Saint - Fargeau. See this if you possible can.
