There is an excellent chef behind this simple menu. Presentation and cooking were outstanding. To deliver beef and magret de canard together, both cooked to individual perfection, is an art. Scallops and prawns also served absolutely a point, properly cooked but still juicy. Recommended.

The auberge is at the end of a narrow road and the Ecrins National Park walking trails continue from there. The demi-pension option, providing dinner, accommodation and breakfast, is excellent value at 42 ⬠per person. Drinks not included. That price does not even pay for accommodation in the more popular towns in this region. We stayed in early-September and was provided an English-translation of the evening's 4-course dinner (first plate, main, cheeses and desserts) by the chef due to our very basic French vocabulary. The meals and the produce used is of the region, flavoursome and generous in quantity. There is no menu as the dishes change according to what is in season and available. When we were there, we had a first plate of savoury carrot-based crème brulee, jambon with melon and some salad. The main was duck breast with white peaches, accompanied by Provencal-style fried vegetables and a gratin made in the local Champsaur-style. There were 2-cheeses and two (not one) small fruit-based pies for dessert. The accommodation is very good for the price. The rooms in the lower level do not have en-suites, but as we were the only guests that evening, that entire wing was exclusively for our use.The terrace bar area, where visitors to the National Park can sit for refreshments and/or meals, is lovely and peaceful. The two dogs: Manchu and Jazz are very friendly. We booked our stay via their website.WiFi is available.Thank you for your visit and your notice. It was a pleasure to receive you.

To lazy and tired to leave my hotel, I decided to eat in the hotel restaurant, which I usually never do. Thank God for that, as the local French cuisine provided was such a pleasant surprise. I decided for the medium menu. Before my starter (foie gras, which I can never resist), two other, very tasty pre-starters were provided. I can only say... yummy! With a slight delay, my main course of perfectly cooked, tender filet of (French!) beef, with assorted vegetables and a totally delicous morsel/pepper sauce arrived. I am already in heaven, zipping a great glass of Graves along. Then comes the trolley au fromage. All local cheese; Every one great, but I must point out the goat cheese (chevre) in particular. Just amazing! Sorry to say, I was too full to have dessert, so settled for a nicely brewed espresso in it's place. As for the service, I can only commend the lovely waitress for trying to understand my broken French. Attentive, but not obtrusive. To sum up: Delicious, nicely presented food, cosy atmosphere, gracious service & excellent value for money. Don't pass by, if ever in Gap!

This restaurant is perfect, for the food, the service and the price/quality level. We were there twice for dinner and tried both meat and fish menus. The quality of the food and of the service is really high and the place is very relaxing. It's really one of the best restaurants I've ever been in my life!
