La Hutterie

Booked for Saturday lunch here, following good reviews on TripAdvisor. Needn't have booked, as it turned out, even though it was Bastille weekend. Very sound meal, with excellent ile flottante, but nothing exceptional and a fairly limited choice on the two menus. Liked it, but wouldn't bother to reserve again.

I think this place has changed ownership since we last visited but our most recent visit was very disappointing. Staff surly and rude, service abysmal and food average, it has gone downhill considerably. We won't be back as a result.

Very nice restaurant on the main avenue in Quend Plage. During a long week-end staying at the local centre parcs resort we spent a plesent evening enjoying a very nice example of how Moules Roquefort should be served well priced and superb service Highly recommeded.

Met with a couple o friends for an evening meal. An excellent experience. We all ate from the €23 menu and has the soup, seafood platter, smoked salmon and ficelle - all very good. For main course we had the bavette (2), ray and the moules; again all excellent. Deserts were also up to the same high standard, the pear to be particularly recommended. Service was excellent as was the cleanliness of the restaurant It was a wet Monday evening in May so not the busiest but the ambience was till not at all bad. Great value, €140 all in, including wine and coffee... To be recommended!

Great value for a dining experience to remember. Somewhat limited choice but this underscores the fresh and local nature of the food, well cooked and attractively presented. Ample portions - perhaps too much on the plate if you have the 3 fish bouillabaisse as a main course following a hearty starter after a complimentary amuse Boucher ! We had the Baked Camambert to finish with peppercorns and flaming. Lava dos poured over.. Interesting. The restaurant was very full for dinner on a Tuesday evening in late August. It seemed they were mostly locals - always a good sign.

On the recommendation of TripAdvisor we visited this place for lunch and we were not disappointed. The restaurant was full at lunchtime and this is not surprising considering the quality of food they had on offer. Many local dishes available. I had rognons de veau which were quite outstanding. Certainly worth a visit.

Having been thwarted by the Brasserie l'Esplanade a few doors down being closed we found ourselves in l'Hippocampe and what an unexpected delight it turned out to be. The plat du jour was faux fillet bearnaise and excellent value at €9.50. Service was polite and efficient but warmed up to nice and friendly as the meal went on. I suppose these restaurants see so many tourists passing through that hospitality isn't seen as being as important as it is in a local neighbourhood restaurant relying on repeat custom. However we left very pleasantly surprised at just how good the meal had been and encouraged by the smiles that eventually shone through. The favourable reviews on Trip Advisor are well justified and we will certainly return.

Le Fiacre

We were staying in nearby accomodation and were looking for a restaurant for diner. We picked up an advertising leaflet in the Berck tourist office and went to check the place before booking for the same evening. We first had drinks outside on the terrace, service was efficient and pleasant. We were presented with the menus, we went for the "confiance menu", changed everyday based on fresh market produces. We choose cheese instead of dessert. We went inside for diner, the place is beautiful inside, full of character. Our table was in a small room; nicely decorated and overlooking a lovely garden. Diner went well, bread was freshly made, delicious. Food was really good and well presented. As requested we got a selection of local cheeses, which were named for us by the waitress. Only "negative" point, once given the bill, nobody showed up to record our payment. We finally went to the reception. Maybe a bit overpriced for the area. We did not see the reviews before, just as well. Overall we had a very nice evening and enjoyed our experience.
