Reviews on European food in Pretoria, Gauteng, South Africa. Pretoria is a vision of purple, thanks to its plethora of blossoming trees that gave the South African metropolis its nickname: Jacaranda City. Give in to the animal magnetism of the National Zoological Gardens of South Africa, then get up close and personal with the big, bad kitties of the Cheetah Research and Breeding Centre. The buildings of Pretoria reflect diverse architectural styles and influences, creating a unique urban landscape.

This restaurant is amazing! I took my husband here for our anniversary, and we even had a customised menu! The food was outstanding (well worth the price), and the ambiance was lovely. We sat on the patio and had the restaurant to ourselves, enjoying the wind chimes and beautiful view of the garden.

This iconic Restaurant with it's very popular, cosy pub and tranquil patio area under the trees is just the place to cool your heels after a long day's work as well as for business lunches alike. Hillside Tavern opened itâs doors in October 1989 and 30 ye
This is one of our favourite restaurants in Pretoria. I have been a couple of times now and every single meal has been superb! Cajun T-Bone with Cheese Sauce has been my best yet! You can taste everything is made fresh! I most definitely recommend Hillside Tavern for any couple looking for a place to have "date night" or any other special occasion!Thank you so much Ryan for your kind review. We are so glad that you enjoy our establishment and hope to see you again very soon.Hillside management

I haven't been back, the food is along the lines of Pachas and not as good as Kream. It has a good following, nothing wrong but the senior staff were very rude to me and my family as we went to pay after Sunday lunch. I was in a moon boot and my children who are in their late teens were actually scolded when they tried to pay at reception. They were speeding things up for me as I was slow and the waiter wasn't coming despite being asked several times. I don't have a reputation for being negative but it was unnecessary and we won't return. It is not just about food, it is the whole experience. If works from the top down in every industry, if the top/owners/partners are not nice, the staff won't be either.

Went for a family dinner and good seating was available. The venue was comfortable and reasonably spaced out. We each had a starter and a main course. The snoek starter was very tasty and there was a good choice of main course dishes. The ladies found the venison parcels a bit filling but they looked small to me. The rump steak & the sole were excellent

My family and I try and keep up with traditions by going out to dinner, as a family. We have decided that Mozambik Silver Lakes is the best restaurant in Pretoria by far! My mother swears by the Calamari (drenched in their freshly made garlic lemon and herb sauce) and Prawns! And I mean, she isn't wrong! I can't pass up the opportunity to enjoy their beautifully cooked baby chicken with coconut rice either, and to top it up their creme caramel is the highlight of our visit. The staff are amazing, the waiters are always friendly and make every visit personal.Hi AjA444,This review is just AMAZING! Thank you so much for taking the time to give us this feedback! We love hearing about our customers experience as this allows me to feed this information back onto the staff and chefs at the store who make the magic happen, they will be so thrilled! :) We hope every customer experiences that personal touch and we are so grateful for your support. We hope we will be welcoming you back again soon!

Kream Restaurant is the location to take your partner, friends or business associates for lunch or dinner. The vibe is uniquely upmarket, with an interior, that is designed to wow, but also make you feel welcome. With an extensive wine list, rare whiskey
The new venue is only a average place, guy's really, flies around our table???totally unexceptable.....Starter was good, main dish, lamb shank with a sauce on it,no choice to add myself, uge let down, guy's you dropped the ball here, you used to be Excellent????Dessert, not good, basically enough sweet stuff for 3 people, didn't enjoy. No more of the passion,so sad. Will we go again, not sure, very disappointing.Hello Coen,Thank you very much for bringing your perspective of your dining experience to our attention. Both positive and negative is taken with equal praise by us as both aspects can be brought into consideration to make the Kream experience a success. We especially appreciate your perspective as it is based on past experiences of how Kream used to be. And it is certainly agreeable that Kream is not what it used to be, especially since moving locations. We will take all your points into great consideration so that we can take active measures at improving. The points you mention, like flies around the table, is definitely unacceptable. I hope you will visit us again for a renewed experience, and enjoy the Kream you once loved. The only option for us is improvement, there is no other way. We hope you will give any further details you would like to share by emailing us on [email protected] you very much for your time and consideration.

The Black Bamboo offers a truly unique, world-class dining experience, which celebrates the synergy between food, wine and art. An ever-changing a-la-carte menu is inspired by international delicacies with a local twist, and a carefully selected wine list
This was a disappointing evening. The first 3 courses were well presented by the Somuleur who then for some unknown reason disappeared. We requested that the meals be spaced so that we could enjoy a lovely evening seated outside, as we were smokers. Unfortunately, we then had to constantly request the waiter to remove the used wine glasses which were cluttering the table, we had to request that they clean the ashtrays, and then we were advised that the kitchen was closing (21h00?? for an 8 course wine pairing evening). - Thereafter the food was put on the table, with no cutlery and we had no idea what we were supposed to be eating and what type of wine we were being served with that particular meal ! And when we questioned this we were then informed by a waiter - really ?- what happened to the presentation of the first 3 courses??? We were then offered a discount on our bill, in front of our guests, for our inconvenience! We do not make comments at a restaurant so that we can get a discount, but for their benefit. This was most embarassing in front of our guests. It seemed that the restaurant, which came highly recommended, did not properly make provision for a 8-course wine pairing evening. So sorry - but we will not be returning.Dear orpa711, Thank you for taking the time to review us and for informing us of the issues you experienced. We apologise for the inconvenience caused and are deeply disappointed that you received unacceptable service which has been addressed with our team. As you are aware, Ryan has been in contact to discuss the problems. Once again please accept our sincere apology. Kind Regards, The BB Team

Fermier, is an attempt to create a completely self sustainable restaurant. Where we take pride in the produce to create a set menu that is served in a farm style environment.
I had a lovely evening with my mother at Fermier this week I must say.Was a bit hesitant as I lived in pretoria before we moved to the cape winelands where we could go to most of the countries best restaurant as often as we like. Before you even park your car you realise that the focus is not about bragging rights for being rated as one of Gautengâs top restaurants but rather about âless is moreâand all about quality. This thread continued to be followed for the rest of the evening and never disappointed in any way. Quite the opposite. The sommelier Loraine was a darling as well as the waitress whoâs name i fail to remember. This restaurant will easily fit in amongst the best of the best in Cape Town or Franschoek.Well done to Adriaan and his team. Hard work, self belief and passion always pay off in the end.
