I did visit this restaurant a few times on my trip to Switzerland, it is hidden and you have to know this place, excellent food, everything done from scratch, very friendly service, advisable to book at this place, because it is always very busy!

Sometimes you find a jewel - and then you keep coming back, looking at it enjoying it over and over again. The "Ristorante Vicania" is one of them.Location: perfect, idyllic, above the lake, on a meadow with horses. It's a magic combination. You reach it by car, but best by foot. Walk from the San Salvatore peak or at least from Corona Paese. Or, if you like, take the stairs from Morcote. The place: a perfect mixture of old and new. Simple, stylish, comfortable, ravishing - especially, when seated outside. The menu: traditional and modern. Tasteful and surprising. Again and again: "Polenta e Zola". A classic. Simply legendary. But, of course, there is more - and changing, adapting to the seasons. Service: very good, too. Quick and intuitive. For me, the "Ristorante Vicania" is one of the places in Switzerland you need to visit at least once in your life. Better again and again.

Our restaurant is a family structure born in 2008 from a great passion for cooking. Our cuisine is inspired by the specialties of the Italian regions and the local tradition, with rigorous use of seasonal and local produce.

Restaurant Chalet San Giorgio is located in an ancient lake village of Brusino Arsizio at the foot of Monte San Giorgio (UNESCO World Heritage Site). Just steps from the border of Porto Ceresio, it enjoys an exclusive view over Morcote, the most beautiful
What a gem of a restaurant situated right next to lake lugano overlooking the picturesque Morcote. All we needed was the motorboat to arrive in (as several others did). Curtains gently blowing in the breeze made it feel cool and pleasant. Great choice of pizza, pasta, fish and meat. The spaghetti alle vongole was amazing. We will eat there 3 times in our weeks holiday.

We attended here while playing "tourist" in Switzerland; which proved to be an awesome find. We dined outdoors, which overlooks the waterway. The view was awesome...as was the food & service. We had risotto...which proved to be the best we have ever had. There were many other 'Italian food' options on the menu as well. I would highly recommend this restaurant if you have the chance. We only speak English, but it was not a problem with staff here....as they too spoke English.

Located in Porto Ceresio, is a little cute lakeside town with a nice boardwalk on the lake very close to the Swiss border, well just in front of the lake is located the town of Morcote, already the Swiss part...There are not many restaurants in this town, around 5 (2 or 3 restaurants, 2 pizzeria eateries, 1 sandwich eatery) and they are always full... Outside of this âtrattoriaâ is just like a normal inviting lakeside restaurant with no direct lake view but hidden behind plants, with their menu exposed; inside nice ambiance, clean, pretty decorated and inspiring... the prices are just those average for a lakeside restaurant, of course not cheap for Italian mid-class standards but maybe good priced for Swiss or German standards ... Regardless of the prices, their small proposal as classic Italian homemade cooking, well, let's discuss it... We had fried pumpkin blossoms which was just OK (oily); main dish cheese and pepper pasta (bucatini cacio e pepe): the pasta noodles were over-cooked well maybe some people like over-cooked not âal denteâ; the ravioli was just OK even though I had the impression that they were not fresh but defrosted but the sage and butter sauce (a classic sauce for the ravioli) noticed that the sage leaves were not fresh but made from frozen (shrink) leaves and currently is summer so plenty of fresh sage leaves can be found... and the âacciughe prezzemolateâ which translated literally mean anchovy fillets with parsley.... we expected fresh anchovies cooked or marinated whatever way with parsley or whatever herbs instead they were those taken out from those anchovy fillets in oil jar or can, widely available at the supermarkets... and no trace of parsley... we know very well their flavor since we have those at home too... this dish (cost 9.00 euro and in the supermarket can get them at 3.00 euro more or less and still left over) I would consider it an insult... The dessert? They offer âhomemadeâ cakes but they are those taken out from those ready-to-serve cakes sold widely at the supermarkets (funny because had a slice of that exact cake days ago at home!), so another insult... The wine offered (a white Arneis from Piedmont) is good, selection of wines not bad as well as the service...Fantastic for those who don't know how Italian cuisine should be; no offense for those who liked and appraised this place as great but in my opinion (and ironic the name of the place as âTime lostâ or better âtime wastedâ) better have a pizza and avoid this place...

The satff are friendly and willing to welcome the guests; speaking English...flexibility to adapt the menu. The fish is fresh, polenta with funghi mushroons and homemade pasta are excellent. Make sure to book before go. We definitely recommend this restaurant; perfect for families with kids too.

Located in the village of Morcote, one of the most beautiful places of Lake Lugano, âAl Battelloâ is a family-run restaurant with accommodation. In a pleasant shade of the old arcades overlooking the shore of Lake Lugano, you will find hospitality, courte
***(Finding this restaurant and hotel: We were using a GPS, but drove past Al Batello initially. We discovered the restaurantâs outdoor seating is nestled behind the arches and the name, Al Batello, is on the wall above the arch under the walkway... on the street above the arches it reads, Ristorante del Battello. There isnât a traditional checkin desk for getting a roomâjust go inside where the charming little room where there are a few tables and the bar and they will help you there. The food, service, and getting to know the owners are worth the effort of finding this hotel and restaurant. Our room was a third floor walk-up, which we didnât mind at all because it was all cobble stones and old world charm every step of the way.)NOTE: The restaurant was open for breakfast and lunch, then closed at 3pm and opened again in the evening at 6pm. I donât know if this is their year-round schedule, so you might want to ask.âIf youâre a warm and friendly person, youâre more likely get the same from others.âWe ate multiple times at Ristorante Batello while we were in Mercote, and enjoyed it every time. We had wonderful pasta, polenta, and other dishes, and the wine was superb. We also rented a room upstairs which was completely charming and quintessentially old world Italian. The owners, Milan & Radica were warm and welcoming, and very patient with our lack of ability to speak Italian beyond a few phrases :D They spoke a little English and we found a way to understand each other that was sweet and made our visit to Mercote all that more enjoyable. Dragon, who also worked in the restaurant was also welcoming and friendly. If you visit Mercote, we highly recommend stopping by to eat and to stay if you need a room.
