Pori (Finnish pronunciation: [ˈpori]; Swedish: Björneborg; Latin: Arctopolis) is a city and municipality on the west coast of Finland. The city is located some 10 kilometres (6 mi) from the Gulf of Bothnia, on the estuary of the Kokemäenjoki river. Pori was established in 1558 by Duke John who became later John III of Sweden.

We had lunch here during the busy week in July, when Pori was filled with attendants of two big events (Pori Jazz Festival and Suomi areena, a discussion forum). It was past the lunch buffet hours, so we chose from the list, and luckily so.I have to say that the steak (200g file mignon) was among the best I've had in many years. Grilled to perfection in the charcoal grill, crisp on the surface and deliciously tender on the inside, with the juices of the meat still left. Wow.My companions had chicken in a skewer (also from the grill) and chicken bocadillo. The quality of the chicken was not as good as that of the beef, but the grilled skewer did taste excellent as well.Service was pretty slow, but understandable, considering that the place was pretty packed and the kitchen seemed busy.There's a beef rack in the restaurant where you can choose your own piece of meat, should you so desire.This is a must for me in future visits to Pori.

Where else can you have locally-shot wild venison and deer?This place is great for breakfast too - but it is particularly the local specialities for lunch and dinner that make this establishment stand out.Thank you for your kind review. I stayed the night in Pori and wanted to eat something different in evening. Restaurant Borg looked right kind of restaurant to try something new. I took bar side snack, which was bowl. There was quinoa, sweet red onion, ghota cheese, ... That bowl was delicious. Just right kind of meal to us in that evening. In addition recommended white wine fit perfectly in meal. Next time I will to dining side and take menu.

We went to have a celebratory dinner, six people, actually seven, we had our 1 year old granddaughter with us. They had a childrens chair for her, which is normal in Finnish restaurants.We had a welcome drink (non alcoholic) first, then some appetizers and the main meal. I had a pepper steak which was perfect. My wife had steak & salmon dish, that was too salty, otherwise excellent. My son and his wife had fillet stead with blue cheese. It was good but not excellent. The ambience of the place is great and service too. Having a small child didn't worry the personnel at all, they even had some toys for her. The experience was better than I expected, having been there before. Perhaps being there in early evening helped.

This is very popular restaurant by the sea side view. They offer the best sea food buffet at around 25Eur. the food is fresh and delicious. It gives you the taste of Finnish cuisine. One can order off the menu card too. they have the best Salmon soup one could ever have. Some reviewers might say the place is bit pricey but it is totally worth it. The service is great and the staff extremely polite.

We ate great steaks here. I had read recomendations about their beef steaks and decided to try them, and I suggested my friend would do the same.My starter was reindeer carpaccio which was superb. There wasn't a lot meat, but that small bit was heavenly good.For main course I ordered their peppar steak medium rare (medium minus), and my friend had some other beef steak as medium. We both got what we wanted. It was good quality meat, tasty and tender. However, my pepper staak was once again soked in lots of creamy pepper sauce. I just wish Finnish retaurants learned to put the sauce in a separate cup or dish: the food would like very much more tempting.Condiments and garnish weren't up to the same quality with the meet. Vegetables tasted like regular frozen products. French friends weren't very good either.But I can forgive a lot, because the beef was very good, and their pricing was reasonable.For dessert I had their chocolate thing.. I'm not even completely sure what it was, but it was so good.The service was frinedly, but quite hasty and hectic. It was a very busy evening during the Pori Jazz and SuomiAreena events, and the restaurant was completely full. Even still we got our foods fast enough.They have a good selection of wines from many countries. The Malbec red wine from Argentina recommended by our waitress was a good choice with my reindeer and beef.I can recommend Andalucia for their good quality meat.

I visited the restaurant for dinner on a Tuesday evening and there were only a few guests that evening. We were a group of 6 and were given a table next to the steps that lead downstairs. Unfortunately downstairs there was a meeting and at times it got rather noisy. This was irritating, why didn't they give us a better table knowing this? The food was good. We had reindeer and we all enjoyed it. This is my second visit to this restaurant and on both occasions the food has been very good. In the bar they have an impressive whisky selection. This is a good place for dinner if you like meat.

We had an excellent dinner in Torget, situated close to Pori market square, tori, torget. The menu list is nice, not too wide, making it easy to make your choices. The restaurant keeper helps you choosing the wine letting you taste the wines, they arenât actually listed. Torget prefers local ingredients, our dinner was excellent. On hot summer evenings we have had in Finland some kind of air condintioning would be nice. But, weâll go to Torget again. Might be wise to make a reservation beforehand.

Weekend in Pori and we looked for advice for a nice restaurant. We found the best:Trattoria Bucco.Absolutely the best food in town, and I suppose one of the best in Finland. Well prepared, så fantastic tasty and friendly. Next time in Pori we will come back. Italian touch of Nordic food. The place looks like nothing from outside, and showed up as THE ONE inside.

We visited on a Sunday evening, had not reserved, but there were plenty of tables. We had the tenderloin and the sirloin which both were cooked to perfection, ie as we want it. Served with fried new potatoes and vegetables. The only slight complaint was that the sauces were served in tiny cups, would have liked more and if we had asked, I am sure we would have been given more. Lovely, old rustic decoration. A little anonymous on the outside, so make sure you donât miss it.
