This is certainly one of our favourite restaurant and it always feels like such a special occasion as it is such a treat! The food is delicious and you can budget for a meal here as there is a fixed price BUT the wine is included in the price, either red and or white wine with sparkling wine for an aperitif! So it is a good idea to accept the offer of transport to and from your hotel! There are some extra touches that also adds to the occasion not to mention the excellent service provided by the staff! Not to mention that it is located on the promenade so you have a good view of the sea and the sun setting if you gave an early booking. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!Dear TripAdvisor member,Thank you very much indeed for your wonderful review. Reading your thoughts on your recent visit to Cris´s Restaurant, has made us very proud and thank you so much for sharing these with us and TripAdvisor.Thank you so much for your recommendation and thank you for all your support, we look forward very much to welcoming you back soon.Best regards,The Cris´s Restaurant

This is a quirky and hip burger place which provides very good food at reasonable prices. There were not a lot of tourists when we ate there but a lot of locals. We couldnât get a table outside but it was interesting to eat inside as it has some great drawings on the walls and the decoration was different from the norm. The burgers were tender and juicy and the chips were very good indeed. In some dishes the burgers do not come on buns but that didnât limit our enjoyment of them. However, if you like your burger in a bun, it is worth checking when you order. I also had lime mousse to follow which was tart and sweet at the same time. A great palate cleanser. The service was good even though they were very busy and it is also great value. A definite if you like a good burger and chips.

Outside traditional oakwood smoked BBQ. Come & enjoy a celebration of big exciting flavours served alongside true Madeiran favourites. Full menu & daily specials board, including tasty vegetarian dishes & Grandma's signature homemade desserts. Fresh from
We were here in sept 19. Although the restaurant markets it self as a bbq-restaurant, it serves excellent vegan (!) dishes that deserves appreciation and a lot attention, I had the best vegan morroccan stew I have ever tried, while my company was served juicy meats freshly grilled. All in all a hidden jewel for meat eaters and plant eaters alike! Hot tip: try the vegan cappucino, its sooo good!

We found this restaurant whilst taking a drive around the east coast. Some of the locals had recommended it aswell as seeing good reviews on TripAdvisor. We asked to be seated outside as it was coming near sunset time. Staff were very friendly and helped me choose a beautiful rose wine called Atlantis. We had garlic bread to start and the steak for our main. The sirloin steak was good and loved the veg. The chips were like homemade chips we have ar home in Ireland:) The waiter always made sure my wine glass was topped up. To top it all off we watched the sunset. It was amazing. If we are ever back in Maderia we would definitely come back.

As a couple of others have noted this is odd this is at number 1, we arrived 11.50 and told they werent serving food, when we asked when they could they said 12pm so we insisted we sit and wait for kitchen to open. other customers turned up after us and their order was taken before ours, there was no local bread just as another review says. and the menu only had 4 options. food was very average im afraid. dont go here expecting an amazing dining experience.

I dined with two other family members in September, and we enjoyed this restaurant very much. We all had seafood dishes which were fresh and wonderful. Mine was three pieces of seafood served over a butter-rich black (squid ink?) pasta and it was amazing! Anyone visiting this island should try this restaurant.

Visited O Polar 3 years ago on our last visit to Madeira. Lovely atmosphere and everything freshly cooked to order. You know it must be good because itâs full of âlocalsâ. You need to arrive early as you are unable to book, and will need to wait for a table. Restaurant opens from 6:00pm every day. Beef paid for by weight.

3 people out of 4 were happy with the food, however, the food took over 1 hour to be served(I estimate 1h and 20minutes). There is no joke. We were with a 9month kid and the wait killed us. Fish of the day was not good. The risotto with seafood was very good.Dear Customer Thank you for wasting your time writing your poor comment and scorning a very low score. It is difficult to accept your review because you not being completely honest.Since you and group arriving at the restaurant you have had all the support of our staf from beginning to the end of dinner.-Our food is all freshly cooked -Your fish of the day was not to your liking because we waited 20 minutes to serve because you been away during that time to try to calm down your baby.Your Dinner since you arrivale takes 38 minutes to cook during the time that you are way.-"The wait killed us" just as you said because the baby did not stop crying and you feelt embarrassed at the other customers.Dear sir your absence from the table during you food was send to the table bot had too be send back to the kitchem since your and wife were not there ,with the rest of the group waiting for you to start dinner. As you saw that night we had the restaurante full off customer therefor you need to be a litle more patient because we love to serv you perfect prepared meals how is our habit. We sory you had a bad experience in our restaurant and will do everthing to rectify it.We are aware that we offer the best service and food possible to thouse who have visited us to this day ,please call again in future SinceryFranco

Absolutely brilliant place. We just wandered past it a couple of days ago and thought it looked nice so booked in . We were disappointed it was amazing. Staff were really knowledgeable. Particularly liked the black scabbard fish and banana with a difference. Went into trip advisor and was pleasantly surprised that it is number1 restaurant in Funchal !
