We went here each day we were in Playa Grande. The food was amazing! We met Juan and Jonathon here. They made us an indian curry dish which was out of this world. Since we are Indian, we didn't expect it to be that good. Every dish was extremely flavorful and spicy. I told them I was bringing my husband for this birthday and they surprised us and treated us to dessert and coffee at the end. It was really the best restaurant we've been to in Costa Rica.

Although we were staying at The Capitan Suizo we wanted to take the opportunity to eat in the local restaurants. We had walked along the beach into the town and found that some of the ones we had researched and were recommended on TripAdvisor were on the side of the main road which is unpaved and extremely dusty so we opted to walk a little way out of town and onto a side road where La Cave Langosta is situated. We were in Tamarindo over the weekend and booking was recommended for a Saturday night, this was arranged by the friendly and helpful receptionist at the hotel. We arrived and were greeted warmly and given a lovely table under a fan which was very welcome as although most of the restaurant is open air it was a very warm evening. A jug of water menus arrived with a board of specials, no wine list? We were impressed with choices, I ordered a house salad the steak tartre, husband lobster crème soup and pork medallions in Dijon mustard sauce. Wine,"just come with me", Wine is kept on an enormous "cave" within the restaurant, no listings, the price of the wine is on a label on the top of the bottle! Our meal was superb, the best steak tartre I've had apart from our favourite restaurant in Sangatte in France. The owner who is a real French gentleman introduced himself and asked if we had enjoyed our meal, did we enjoy it, yes , so much can we book for tomorrow night please? Bien sure was the reply. Sunday evening were opted to just a main course, my lamb skewers were tender, pink and herby, husbands steak with pepper sauce(his all time favourite) bought a smile of pure delight with each mouthful. Its a pity the La Cave is closed on a Monday as we may well have been tempted to go again. It was well worth the short walk to La Cave, thankyou for the wonderful food an memories.

Overpriced. Boring. Drinks are regular. Pool: no big deal. Waiters and bar tenders are as boring as the whole place is. Street sales men and women all over the Beach area offering tours, masagges, surfing lessons, etc. made it feel unsafe. Would search for other options around next time.

Trust me, being a foodie from Los Angeles has afforded me the opportunity to enjoy many great eats from around the world. Although, I have not traveled to Italy, I imagine that Enea's is a part of Italy that has miraculously transported itself to Tamarindo, Costa Rica. This hidden gem is off of the main strip and wonderfully so. You get to enjoy some of the best homemade food in the seclusion of a private, quiet, and quaint tropical setting... not to mention, great service! I can't say enough about this place. Ate a waffle and had a mango smoothie here yesterday. Nestled in a small side walkway leading to Tamarindo beach the Waffle Monkey is a great option if you want a morning breakfast to go and then walk a few short steps to the beach to eat. A few tables outside great view and tasty waffles. My son had the cheese and ham waffle while I had the mango smoothie. Had s friendly iguana stop by our table too. Nice folks run the Waffle Monkey. Well done guys!!!Thank you so much for such a detailed review. We can't thank you enough for giving other people an insight to the experience they will have when they visit Waffle Monkey.
