After we had a guided visit of the âMonasterie de Lorvãoâ with our Brazilian friends, and who took almost one hour, we were in need of some cofee. And for this after the visit the right place to be is the âPastelaria O Mosteiroâ, small but just in front of the Monastery, just crossing the street. Very small, but with real good sweets who are made following the old recepie, we know this pastries for about 20 years and the sweets are still the same made on the old fashioned way, delicious to taste, just give it a try to convince your self, you do not have to believe what we are telling here, just go and taste.

We were on a trip from Douro valley to Lisbon when I mentioned to our guide that apparently suckling pig is one of the favourite food of Portugal. Our guide was excited that we mentioned this and drove us to this place. This is a restaurant where Portuguese working nearby go for lunch. At the entrance is a place to wash your hands. Yes one can hold the pieces of suckling pig with the hands to eat. The place was packed but service was quick, efficient and friendly. The suckling pig was delicious. It is served with homemade french fries which were also delicious. The pieces of orange are eaten to remove the taste of fat. Very good and effective. A great place for lunch within a friendly atmosphere.

I can't say I've tried all of the bifanas in Portugal, but out of all of the ones I've tasted, Jo's bifanas are the best. The bread is fresh and the pork is seasoned and cooked to perfection. Plus, unlike most cafes that stick with the traditional pork on a bun, Jo introduces all kinds of different toppings to make his bifanas unique (try the Cheese Egg On!). This restaurant has two locations, one in a small cafe and another in the Casino shopping center across the street. Usually the Casino location is open for lunch and the other location is open for dinner. Jo himself is incredibly friendly and kind and always has a smile for his customers. I'll definitely be back!

Overlooking a river beach, the setting couldn't be better. The menu offered some different options from the standard fare in this region. I had the sweet octopus and thoroughly enjoyed it. Take cash as the card machine may not be working.

Made reservation the same day for a family dinner. The food was all excellent, and reasonably priced. The service was very friendly, a bit slow, but that was natural (we were 9) and still perfectly acceptable.Didn't stay in the hotel, but will certainly try to book a couple of days in a future opportunity. Seemed very cozy and relaxing.

Really lovely restaurant, very tastefully decorated and furnished with a view to die for . The owners were very helpful and lovely to chat to , their recommendations of king prawn starters in garlic and a main of slow cooked goat on wine were amazing . Some of the best food i have tried in Portugal.
