Italian Inspired restaurant. Open for Lunch Monday to Saturday from 11:30am to 2:30pm. Open for Dinner everyday from 5pm 'til late.
We were visiting on a Monday so it wasn't too busy. Despite having a booking our table wasn't set up for the 5 of us, none the less the staff were very accommodating. They were a bit over the top if I were honest, trying a bit too much. Food was really good though so would definitely come back

Okurukuru Restaurant - the highlight of coastal hospitality. Honest good food prepared by passionate chefs with stunning surroundings .Clifftop view over the Tasman Sea and Mount Taranaki.
We arrived late afternoon after driving around following other vineyard and brewery signs in the area that all led to closed venues. Okurukuru is the only real vineyard left around New Plymouth. Tastings had already finished by the time we arrived and the winemaker was only still there because her car battery had died. Despite that she did a personal tasting for us at the bar and patiently answered all our questions. It was a lovely experience that turned around what had been looking like a day full of disappointments. Can't thank her enough for a great experience :) Really enjoyed the distinct wines they do in small batches, mostly by hand, with their own varietals and unique soil qualities of the region.

Two words, simply awesome. Federal Store was just down the road from where we were staying, having had breakfast at our accommodation we thought just to call in for a morning coffee before starting our day exploring New Plymouth. Oh boy what a popular cafe this was, it was full of atmosphere on our arrival with few tables spare inside. We ordered our coffees at the counter and resisted being tempted by the many delicious looking treats on offer in the cabinets, it was at this point that we both decided to come back for lunch. Our coffees were spot on, good blend, my double espresso was smooth and the right temperature, I wanted another. Same thing at lunchtime, the cafe was near full, it was buzzing with energy. We thoroughly enjoyed our meals, the chicken and bacon toastie was loaded with meat, very flavoursome and a decent portion size. The pumpkin and feta frittata was moist and delicious, both dishes were served with a side of mixed lettuce mix and a swirl of dressing. To finish we had to have a lemon meringue pie to share, it was adorable, served with cream, the pastry was great, the meringue was devine, soft and flowing into the lemon butter. The decor of Federal Store is retro, refreshing and unique in these times of so many cafes popping up, the uniforms of the staff are also very appealing. Service was prompt and friendly. Street parking is available on Devon Street or surrounding streets. All I can think is how lucky the residents of New Plymouth are to have such a fabulous cafe.

Juliana's never fails to deliver. We have been here several times now over the years and it is always very pleasant. The food is delicious and definitely value for money. Even though it was a busy night the last time we went, there was no loud noise or extra hustle and bustle. It was all very calm, making for a very pleasant evening. We will certainly be back.Thank you for your good comments on Julianas we look forward to seeing you again

The Social Kitchen is a comfortable Bistro that celebrate a social occasion and shared dining
I came here with a group of friends on a Sunday afternoon. The place was empty but weâd been told it was a great place to enjoy some casual shared food and so we duly ordered some small plates. There is a South American feel to the menu which was appealing but sadly the food didnât deliver. The bean dip with the flat bread was boring and under seasoned. The empanadas were far from authentic and can with the chimichurri served on them which is great if you want chimichurri, not so great if you donât. The ceviche was delicious and we loved the addition of the apple but the portion was tiny. The prawn tostadas lacked a certain something and were all falling apart. They looked good but weâre bland. The spicy chicken was, well, very spicy but underneath the heat was a bitter taste and we thought theyâd been over-caramelised. Lastly, the polenta fries were also under seasoned. I am not someone who likes a lot of salt but this food was seriously lacking in flavour. The final straw was the pisco sour which was really bland and most definitely not sour. It need far more lemon and more pisco and the traditional drop of bitters. It just tasted of egg white and sugar. So, a bit of a fail Iâm afraid. The decor is quirky though and, maybe on another day this place could shine. Sadly it was not to be for us. Dear NesbitevansWe are sorry you felt your food and beverage was bland and lacking flavour. After a long drive on a cool winters day we arrived at the Plymouth International and decided to eat at the hotel which was a great decision. The restaurant was warm and staff very welcoming. We had a wonderful meal at the Orangery restaurant. I had the pork belly with melt in the mouth crackling and delicious accompaniments, specially the poached apple. My husband had the steak which was also cooked to perfection. Highly recommend.Thank you for the great feedback on the steak and pork belly, we look forward to seeing you agin

Visiting New Plymouth and staying at the Millennium, on a cold, rainy night, so thought weâd have dinner at Salt, the restaurant attached to the hotel.Very happy we made that decision.Starter of Pumpkin and Bacon soup was excellent, as was the fish of the day main course. We ordered a glass of wine to share and they split it into 2 glasses - a nice touch. The chocolate fudge pudding for dessert was excellent too.Service was top notch. Will be back next time weâre in New Plymouth
