The Bellmill is a nice modern restaurant, the staff are friendly and helpful and it's very clean.Where they get zero out of five is the choice of vegetarian food. There is only macaroni to choose from on the all day menu, zero choices in the senior menu and slimway selection and no vegetarian choice at all from the burgers or main menu.Very poor.

Staff were friendly and welcoming and drinks arrived quickly. The menu has been refreshed and some familiar dishes have a fresh twist. My haggis arancini were delicious as were the other starters of scallops, Brie and minestrone.I ordered penne Arabiatta and asked for tuna to be added along with excellent extra chilli and it was excellent. My mother-in-laws salmon was beautifully cooked and the pizzas had lots of fresh toppings. Despite the large portions we managed to squeeze in desserts and again all we lovely. This place never disappoints.

I visited your restaurant early Saturday evening. This was because my mother has consistently stated how good it is. Disappointment is an understatement for this visit. The restaurant was very quiet and we were seated easily. The waitress took our drinks order and this was served quickly. After a considerable wait I went to the bar and asked if someone could take our order and this was attended to.I did observe a number of staff who were extremely busy serving food however they were walking down a stair with this.I ordered rump of beef, haggis oatmeal, point-neuf potatoes etc. The meat was extremely dry on the outside, the oatmeal was so hard cooked that I had to scrape the haggis out of it. The pont-neuf potatoes were absolutely nothing like Parisian fried potatoes and in fact were identical to the chips served with my family’s burgers. The pea puree and pancetta was tasty. The other three members of the family ordered the burgers (one with haggis and peppercorn). There was no garlic mayo, as stated, on any of the brioche buns and there was no peppercorn (we assumed a sauce). On my mother’s recommendation we then ordered Swiss treacle meringue, with Chantilly cream, served with marinated oranges. This dish was quite unbelievable – two supermarket style meringue nests stuck together with firm cream of sorts and drizzled with treacle fresh from a can. Marinated oranges – I would say mandarins from a tin. It was absolutely awful.I did raise the issues with the waitress who said she was really sorry and appreciated my honesty however, that was it. She also acknowledged that the staff were run off their feet. Unbeknown to me my mother had also spoken to a gentleman at reception who asked if everything was all right. My mother highlighted her disappointment and the gentleman said “we have a new chef and he does things differently”.An establishment of this standard really should be able to produce good food freshly made on the premises.I come away feeling that no one actually cared that we were not satisfied with our food or the service we received.

First of all the restaurant is very modern and set out well, no complaints but the food was average. A starter of scallops was very well presented but slightly undercooked and a bit bland. Main course of fillet steak is expensive at £28 and you have to pay extra for a sauce which is ridiculous, I asked for medium and it's was rarer than that and not properly rested as blood ran onto plate when cut, the chips also underdone. With some improvements to the food this could be a good restaurant, it's also pricy for what it is.

Glorious plump mussels we’re on the 2-course lunch special with either white wine or tomato sauce & a slice of garlic bread. The creamy spinach & ricotta cannelloni was a treat. Large portion topped off with fresh basil. If you’re in Hamilton this place would be great for lunch or dinner.

The Wide Mouth Frog @ Dalziel Park Motherwell

I have been going to dalziel for lunch regularly with friends over a long period and was very dissappointed with my last three visits. Firstly I took three friends to lunch and after paying the bill, I was stopped on the way out to say I had been given the wrong bill, and paid the 30 pounds shortfall, the meal was nice so didn't really mind. On my next visit, a retirement lunch for two colleagues which 11 of us attended, and although the meal was lovely, they informed us they didn't have a knife to cut the cake in half and no wrapping for the 2 retirees to take it home. Lastly I went for lunch with a friend who had undergone major surgery, wanted to treat her. When the soup came it was lukewarm, and the meal was not up to its usual standard. The coleslaw was watery, there were black bits in my peas, the fish was very small with too much greasy batter, and my friends pasta had way too much sauce and came draped in far too much greenery. The staff are always helpful but seemed a bit harrassed even though they were not that busy. Very disappointed and don't know if I'd return even though it is handy. I have always sang their praises to all and don't relish the thought that people will go on my recommendation and be disappointedGood afternoon,Thank you for taking time to leave your review. We appreciate all our customers feedback both good and bad. I will pass your this onto both our General Manager and Head Chef to look into the issues you raised. Could you possibly contact us at [email protected] with your contact details and when you last dined with us so we I can also pass this on. We really hope you do come back so we can show you this is not the usual standard of both food and service we provide. I will look forward from hearing from you! Kind regards, Amy
