A fabulous menu comprising many home produced delicacies and delicious local produce and some lovely local wines, plus a rural atmospheric setting amongst the roses. Chef and hostess great fun and extremely welcoming - a truly lovely evening chez La Poudette.

Recommended for our group to give it a try. All have reasonably sophisticated palates and have eaten in many establishments. This one rated right there with interesting cuisine - primarily Italian. Quaint decor in restored medieval cottage lends itself to the dining experience. Service was average but then were busty with minimal staff but DON'T arrive early - they won't let you in even if its raining - but we are in France. Just laugh it off and enjoy a unique dining experience

A very pleasant and unprepossessing restaurant. We sat on the outside terrace in the evening, looking at the pretty village around us and enjoyed a delicious meal, served with a smile by a very pretty young woman. Prices not the cheapest but quality very good - probably the best magret de canard that I have ever eaten (and I have eaten plenty over the years!).Menu short but interesting.Highly recommended.

We had lunch on a Friday in late summer. Quick, attentive service from our waiter. No wait for our food. We had a brochette of duck and asked for it to be served medium-pink. And it was. We also had cotelette d'agneau and asked for it to be served the same way and it was. The duck was beautifully browned and crisp on the outside. A small salad dressed in a balsamic dressing on the side that was the perfect size. Both dishes came with frites. Frites are often undercooked, or overcooked or fatty. Not these. Almost the best part of the meal. Made from a floury potato, the frites were nicely brown, crisp and not swimming in oil. Perfect! We had two coffees and two small pichets of wine and the bill was E43.60 which is getting a bit steep for a lunch of this standard, we think. The terrasse outside was full by the time we arrived at 12.10pm but out waiter gave us a lovely table inside by a window.

A local bistro that has so much potential - nice dining room, great local wine list, pleasant serving staff. It's just that the food was not great. Not bad - but just not good.I had the surprise menu - hoping for a surprise - in a good way. But sadly it just failed on too many fronts. The fois gras terrine was pleasant. But was disappointed to see evidence of veins in the slice - just a sign of a lack of attention to detail in the kitchen.

The Hotel was very nice; lovely room, clean, the lady on reception upon a rival was lovely and our room had a lovely view over the pool. Strange not having a separate room for toilet and shower. Also with the weather being 32 Celsius would be nice to have aircon in the room or at least a fly screen so you can open the window at night. What really ruined the visits was the restaurant where we had a starter and a main which took about 3 and a half hours. The main lady in charge of the restaurant was very moody and unfriendly. We had non optional ontraiy which you get charged for (â¬4.50 per person) about 10 crisps and a cracker with some cream on it, which gets taken away before you have finished. Bill was wrong as they add things on that you didn't order ( like a bottle of wine). Don't clear the table between courses very well, not hard to do when you take hours to bring out the next course. Wasn't much better at brakefast, get given coffee but no mugs to put it in, â¬15 per person for a continental all pastries are mini. The restaurant really ruined the stay especialy as you are paying a premium for the hotel. The restaurant is expensive and your only option if you stay as the nearest alternative is quite a drive.I am really sorry you felt let down by the restaurant, and I am surprised you found the staff so unfriendly, especially the lady in charge, my main worry is to make customers feeling warmly welcomed no matter what. I will take in consideration all your critics, and will make sure it won't happen again.Best regards

Although reservations are the norm, the staff is quite flexible and friendly and can always put another table outside. The food is a good value and the setting is great. Nice way to pass an evening.

Popped in on spec on arrival in village and excellent welcome onto comfy terrace. Excellent menu options and both fish stew and burger de boucher were delicious. Simple french "style", excellent value for money and extremely busy, friendly team add to the atmosphere. Will pop back for sure.
