We stopped for a casual drink after touring the Abbey all morning. It was too cold outside for us to eat ice cream, although the selections looked tempting. We enjoyed a couple rounds of beer as well as some of the lighter menu offerings. The food was good, but not remarkable other than delicious potato salad. But the ambiance was friendly and warm. We enjoyed our stop, and were glad it was so close to where our river cruise ship was moored.

Delightful café. Cute couches under umbrellas. Wonderful food. We tried two of the paninis: Tomato and mozzarella & ham and cheese. Both were delicious and were about 4 euros each. Some guests next to us got a banana split and it looked fabulous. The waitress was very nice and spoke English. Very enjoyable café and pleasant décor.

Wandering through Melkâs old town is a pleasant experience, and a change of pace from visiting the Abbey. Quaint shops, cafes and cobblestoned pavements are part of the attraction. We enjoyed coffee at this cafe seeing under their awning shade, watching the world go by. The coffee and service were very good. Thanks for your vote.

Just stumbled upon this nice place. As vegetarians, sometimes its difficult to find a great veg friendly place. They have great salads, excellent thin pizza and good pasta with lots of veggies. Prices are reasonable. Would recommend.

After checking into our hotel we were looking for a restaurant nearby - and we found Koloman with nice reviews here! I'm glad we did! Their burgers and veggie burgers are really tasty and satisfying, and it was the only place we found mozzarella sticks (our son's favorite!) in Austria :) Overall a really fun diner / pub menu - but with a much higher quality food than you'd expect of a pub! The decor is really fun - including the walk to the restrooms! While they do have a non-smoking area (which we at first preferred) it had a totally different and sterile feel so we opted for the main area where we felt surrounded by color and good vibes.

This butcher shop and restaurant is right at the point of two streets in the main square when walking into Melk, which likely adds to its popularity. It's a butcher shop--where you can purchase items to take away, and also has a restaurant for you to sample their very good wares for lunch. We stopped here after visiting the Abbey up the street and were not disappointed. It seems chaotic--hard to get the attention of a waitress, but she was really on top of everything--brought us menus and our food within minutes. We shared a sausage plate---it was fun to watch them grilling lunch right out front.

Had glasses of wine outside along the street and watched the world go by. Wine was average quality for the area, although there are some super wines available but not on the menu by the glass. Enjoyed the pleasant wait staff and stayed out of the rain under their umbrellas.Dear Guest, Thank you for your rating! Looking forward to welcoming you again. Kind regards Kalmuck Team

The restaurants is located a short distance from the entrance of the abbey which is the town's main attraction. It serves local cuisine and is vegetarian friendly. Outdoor seating is great in summer and offers good views. I was visiting the abbey and dropped in for a quick lunch before visiting - ordered a Vegetarian pie which was delicious. Service is good, staff is friendly and prices are reasonable.

Typical austrian restaurant in historic vaults.
You better believe it. After touring the Abbey for two hours we walked down into town and began to feel the heat by 11. We saw this place in the shade and noticed that there were a few groups having a beer. What the hell, why not? I chose the local micro brewery's lager, unfiltered. It was the best beer I've ever had in my life! We had to get back to the ship by noon, so time was short or we would have had a bite as the food definitely seemed worth a try. On beer alone it is a five star but in interest of fair play and no food, I'll give it four stars.Dear Guest, Thank you for your rating! Great to hear that you enjoyed our beer! :)Looking forward to welcoming you again.Have a nice trip!Kind regards Rathauskeller Team
