Where to eat Mediterranean food in Louth: The Best Restaurants and Bars

Found this pub by lucky chance and had a great lunch there. If you don't want to eat the normally massive type of pub lunch they do a 'light bite' here which is great value for money.Drive through the archway off the road and they have a good car park and seating area at the back. The service was excellent and the pub is also very good in the bar if you are not sitting outside.Tip - for lunch get there early as they stop serving at 2pm in the week.

This is the first time at the Montebello restaurant which boasts a family run fine dining experience.I would dispute this statement and these are my reasons for the low star rating and review.Firstly the staff are running round like headless chickens and do not give an air of professional pride in the service, especially when one of the waitresses is chewing gum whilst serving. I asked for a larger shandy expecting to arrive in a pint glass but in fact what arrived was a rather large bottled beer and a bottle of lemonade which was placed on the table, certainly not what you would expect from a fine dining experience. The starter was quite nice and enjoyable. It's a pity this cannot be said for the Lamb Rump main, which when it arrived came minus the sides. We were informed this would take around 5 minutes. Then why not wait until the sides are ready and serve with the main. I asked if the Lamb was served pink and I was informed it was, when I eventually cut into the Lamb it was well done and the first four mouthful's were full of gristle. It would have helped to have had the correct knife to cut the lamb. I did raise my concerns over the lamb and was offered another main but declined due to the time delay. Our guests did try the desserts and I had an espresso coffee which came in a rather large cup surely a fine dining establishment should have the correct espresso cups.It was at this point the waitress(still chewing on her gum) started cleaning the table when I was still finishing my coffee surely it would be easier to clear the tables once the bill has been paid and the customers leave the table. This is far from a Fine dining experience. The staff require fine dining training it also requires someone who is fully trained running front of house, what I witnessed was nothing short of organised chaos. This was not a fine dining experience and I feel it was over priced for what we received. I would be more than happy for the management to discuss this further. Major Mike Bohanan
