I could eat here all the time.My favourite places while on holiday. It's an all you can eat buffet. You take your plate up to the chef pick your stake tell them how you want it cooked and then watch them cook it for you. Once it's cooked the way you like it you take your plate and load up with all the trimmings. And then back to your table and enjoy. If you like stake you can't go wrong here. The restaurant is clean and tidy and we'll run buy friendly staff. And if you are like me not to good with the language all the staff are understanding and know enough English to help you with your orders. If your hungry you can't go wrong here.
Câest un restaurant dâhôtel qui se défend. Du choix et des tarifs pas forcément exorbitants. Des menus ou à la carte.

We had a delightful, high value meal here on our visit to the Basilica. We happened on this cafe/bistro? completely by chance as it is not located on the busy main streets. We went in because it looked like lots of locals were there. They were. We sat next to a mom and her son she had just picked up from school. Fortunately she spoke excellent English and told us she eats there all the time. We had two "plat du jours" for 17E and that included a nice glass of red wine. Service was prompt and the waiter was very helpful. Great food. Great prices. Well done!

After a disappointing meal at L'Endroit the evening before, we checked Trip Advisor reviews before choosing La Coupe d'Or, and the experience couldn't have been more different. The wait staff were welcoming and attentive to every detail of our meal, providing English menues. We chose the Formule meal which offered a salad/starter, main, and dessert. Each course was beautifully presented and perfectly seasoned. Before the main dish, we were brought a small ice-apple appetizer which was tasty and unusual. And the chocolate cake/ice cream/vanilla custard dessert was wonderful. It was all much more than we are accustomed to eating, but it was an experience to be remembered. We especially liked the philosophy of featuring local products. Don't miss this wonderful restaurant if you are visiting Lisieux!

Great food, great atmosphere, great service! I went as part of a large party and the waiters did an excellent job - even offering us a lift back to the hotel when there were no taxis available! The cidre was amazing, as was the beef steak which I had for my main. Would defintely reccomend.

Friendly family run with great service, like we were being welcomed back to eat with people we knew, having only just walked through the door for the first time. Drinks were taken whilst we looked at the menu. Great choice of food and wines. Lovely atmosphere and busy with locals all enjoying themselves. The staff acted as if they knew everyone personally. The service was great, food wonderful, a very enjoyable evening, will definitely go back again

Following reviewers on this site we decided to dine at L'Avenue. Lisieux is a small town and the dining options are limited, especially out of season. I have to admit I did not have high expectations. But.... it was a lovely surprise. The decor is charming and very welcoming and although we did not reserve in advance and the restaurant was full the kind staff managed to find us a table. Everything in this restaurant spells good taste, the food is beautifully presented and very tasty and the service is excellent and efficient. Thank you L'Avenue for a lovely evening. Will definitely come again.

We happened upon this place after wandering around Lisieux and not finding anywhere particularly enticing. Never having tried galetts before we thought we'd give it a go - and boy are we glad we did!The owner was very welcoming and friendly and explained the different dishes (and the fact that he's worked in hospitality in England for some years). The place was packed with locals - always a pretty good sign. The food was came quickly, was beautifuly presented, plentiful, absolutely delicious and very well priced at around 10-12 Euros, with plenty of choices to choose form including daily specials and a strong focus on using organic ingredients. The best - and cheapest - meal we had in 5 days in Normandy, and I can't say fairer than that!

We visited this restaurant again, having visied it over the years on a Saturday night and very surprised to find it had changed decor and also ownership, so we didn't know what to expect. Previously the restaurant was pleasantly decorated in green and quite light, now completely redecorated slightly darker colours with a red carpet, also making a pleasant atmosphere. The menu is a bit confusing and only basically has 2 main course options on the medium priced menu, fishermans choice and butchers choice, which you have to ask, as it's not indicated anywhere. we chose the Dorade which came out on a pureed bed and my brother had a steak again on a pureed bed. My Dorade wsas not a fillet and has small bones all around it, I have to say verging on the noveau cuisine that was a fashion many years ago, not really flling. The deserts were very poor and certaily did not match their description, we ordered Tiramasu which appeared in a tall fluted glass with a mass of areiated cream half way up the glass and a very sweet melange at the bottom, very unrecognisable. My wife had another desert which was supposed to taste of chestnut but again basically far too sweet and didn't taste of chestnut. To sum up although the first 2 courses were OK, they were not as good as the previous chef, and because of this we wouldn't revisit.
