This hotel is extremely close to the motorway, literally about 3 minutes, so convenient for an overnight stop. All the staff we encountered were very pleasant. Our room was very clean and functional and although the traditional pine furniture looked fairly new it certainly lacked style and there were no "niceties" apart from a television. We had dinner in the gourmet restaurant and were looked after extremely well. We had an enjoyable meal and breakfast the next morning (which was included in the price, which doesn't happen very often) was excellent and one of the best we have had on the continent.

S'Bärli offers a good variety of foods, specializing in Flammkuchen of which there were 16 on the menu when we visited, plus another 6 Flammizzas, as you can imagine: a combination of Flammkuchen with the addition of the tomato base familiar in pizzas. 14 salad combinations, soups plus pastas, burgers, quiches and a substantial variety of vegan dishes plus deserts complete the substantial offerings. Additionally there are seasonal specialities. Our party of 4 enjoyed two soups on this cold winterday, as well as two fantastic Nüsslisalads enhanced with eggs, bacon, apple and pear junks, served warm with a fig honey vinaigrette. We also very much likeded our selection of 3 different Flammkuchen and 1 Flammizza, with the winner being the spicy Flammizza Mexicana and a toss-up among the 3 Flammkuchen, they were all excellent. They also have a good small wine list with local as well as international selections. Good, neat casual ambience, good innovative food, friendly efficient service, definitely a place to visit and return back to.

The restaurant Hirschen recelty was again confirmed 14 Gault Milliau Points
For our farewell dinner for the current Swiss trip we came to the Hirschen, our first visit to this restaurant. We had a cordial welcome and realized that we were smart to make reservations, as the restaurant was totally full shortly after our arrival. Befitting the specialization of the Hirschen, we selected from the many Italien offerings: The appetizers of Nüsslisalat with eggs (one of our perennial favorites when visiting Switzerland) as well as the autumn salad and the tomato cream soup perfumed with gin were all very well received. For the main courses, the Tagliatelle Trentino with chicken strips and Steinpilz mushrooms vied for top appreciation with the Fiochetti alla Pera, pasta pockets with pear and fresh cheese filling on an orange sauce perfumed with Williams, but the Tagliatelle Imperiale with jumbo shrimps were also worthy competitors. The triple selection of deserts consisting of crème caramel, tiramisu and pannacotta were excellent and the lukewarm chocolate cake was also well appreciated. We were also quite happy with the carafe of Arneis from Italy and the bottle of Conde de Valdemar Reserva from Spain. To top it all, the offered complimentary grappa just rounded off everything very nicely. Good food, good service, cordial owner and pleasant ambience. We were definitely very happy customers and will return for sure again.

We were very much looking forward to visit this place, having noticed over the past months the substantial reviews, mostly very positive with the occasional discordant voice. The standard dinner here is a 4 course set menu, no choices, served family style, at a charge of CHF59 per head. They offer different seasonal themes, at our visit the cuisine of Piemonte was their selection, which happens to be one of our Italian favorites. We had a rather unusual experience in that, as their main room was full, we were seated at a long table in the annex room, which appears to be set up mainly for private parties. Our party of 4 was the only group in this room, which at first seemed to be a bit lonely, but as the candles were lit it became quite festive and intimate and it was a welcome quiet contrast to the main room which we noticed was very busy and a bit on the noisy side. The food presentation started out with a substantial amuse bouche of charcuterie, olives and bread, followed by a good mixed salad including bits of oranges, then a terrific risotto with truffle oil. The main course was an absolutely wonderful filet di manzo / rare beef filet with mashed potatoes, al-dente carrots and leek, expertly executed, the beef felt like melting on the tongue. An excellent closing was their parfait semifreddo, light and delectable. We stayed also with their Piemontese wines, selecting a white Roero Arneis for starters, then a bottle of their red Barbera d'Alba Flin and were very pleased with both selections. The wine prices start in a quite reasonable range. To close, we had good coffees with complimentary very moist Tuscan chocolate cake cubes.Overall: Great food, great service, very warm pleasant operators, a bit funky but good ambience. Not cheap, but for Swiss standards a really great deal, considering the food quality and quantity (can ask for seconds and we did! - as it was just too good). We will definitely be back when visiting our family in Lenzburg again - and look forward to sitting outside near the creek in the warmer months.

On a perfect Autumn day in charming Lenzberg (a reason in itself for going to this town--not just to eat here), we settled into our Spartan interior setting forgoing the risk of death by 2nd-hand smoke outside ( will Switzerland ever provide no-smoking areas outside?) & marvelled at the horrors still extant, wrought on European interiors last century. But dreary and as slightly uncomfortable as the setting surely was..the food was very good indeed! We shared a well made beef tartar & to follow my partner selected a vegetable omelette & I a 'named source' (local) ham steak with salad--regrettably the same salad that had come with the tartar--only bigger> very lazy kitchen work there, Ochsen, but both excellent! But the longed-for chips were entirely forgotten--& when after prompting they did finally turn up..their arrival came without any apology whatsoever. Mmmmn........so sloppy Swiss service yet again Readers, & what sticks in one's gullet is these people had the cheek to charge a hefty CHF 8 20 'service charge' on top along with CHF 7 for local tap water !!!!! Too much for incidentals --but value for the good food. It should've been better & they've forgotten style (if they ever had it) & manners wouldn't go astray either.

We came here for an easy evening of salads and pizza and were not disappointed. The restaurant is located at the edge of Old Lenzburg, run entirely by an authentic Italian family, except for our pleasant waitress with Portuguese roots. The dinner was definitely good Italian cuisine - with a touch of Swissyness. For salads, we had 3 times their great Nüsslisalat/Lamb's salad Mimosa - with egg and French dressing: that is definitely Swiss, plus once a very good mixed salad. We tried 2 of their pizzas: The interesting multi-taste Four Seasons as well as the fiery Diavolo, plus one Piccata Milanese - and we were all happy with our choices. We enjoyed half a liter of their open Trebbiano white wine and a bottle of a very nice red Sedara Sizilia. As it was a very nice late May evening, we sat outside and enjoyed the fresh air and the view of the Lenzburg buildings. We will definitely return.

frische, saisonale, regionale Produkte; ausgesuchte europäische Weine; Man kann dem Koch beim Kochen zusehen, freundlicher Service
Coming from Zurich I'm rather spoiled when it comes to excellent restaurants. When I had to meet a friend in Lenzburg for dinner I was a bit skeptical. We chose the "Rosmarin" and we were not disappointed - on the contrary. The food and wines are excellent, the staff extremely friendly and helpful and the place very charming. What we liked very much is that there are small portions of nearly any dish on the menu for those who are not that hungry. The open kitchen makes it clear that hygiene standards are met and the chef himself takes orders or serves dishes. I will definitely go there again.

Staff / Food / Ambience: great! The hosts ensure a great ambience, friendly atmosphere, and a lot of attention to detail - both in regard to food and and decoreation: which make a visit totally worthwile. However, the restaurant lacks a nice and friendly summer terrace. What a hugh shame. Regardless, if the weather sucks: a visit at this place will enlighten your day!!Dear defkoThank you very much for your visit and your kind words about staff, food and ambience - we truly appreciate that.Concerning the lack of a nice and friendy summer terrace; we totally agree with you! Unfortunately we are waiting for almost 6 month now for our permit to wait on tables on the sunny side of the street. What a pity. Tables and chairs are ready to be placed - we are just waiting for the OK by the administration. In the meantime we hope to see you again soon on very hot or rainy days - or whenever you are down for a good coffee, drink or food. With our warmest ragardsToby & DésiOwner
