This property has been completely refurbished and they did top-notch work. The workmanship is beautiful and the contrasting styles of old world and new are captured throughout the property. The staff is perfectly attentive and catered to our every need while not being intrusive. This is a lovely restaurant, run by a couple who are the chefs. The food is of high quality and the presentation is very nice. It has an attractive bar and a good wine list. Everything we ate was delicious and the service was outstanding. A very nice place for a special occasion.

We were on a walking holiday with a well known company but unfortunately had problems with our pre booked hotel, however Hotel Le Kastelberg came to the rescue! Not only did they bend over backwards to help find us two rooms in what was already a very busy hotel, they went out of their way to ensure that we had a fabulous stay. All the staff were extremely friendly and helpful,the manager providing us with suggested local walks. The food was delicious and rooms comfortable.We would like to thank you for saving our holiday and making it one to remember.....

This is the kind of restaurant where we would become regulars if we lived nearby. In a 1,000+ year old village a few kilometers above the busier town of Obernai, the dining rooms have a timeless beauty, the service is prompt and professional and the food is ably prepared with great care over the quality of the ingredients and the attractiveness of the plating. The wine list is extensive, featuring the great wines of Alsace, but sampling good choices from elsewhere.While I haven't rated the restaurant "excellent", in my opinion it may well reach that level if you are especially pleased with your selection. All in all, a superior establishment skilled and caring about the art of hospitality. It is the type of place that is not so much for a special occasion, but for any time you want to eat well with friends and family. Dining outside would be a special treat when the weather permits.

first night -- turbut off the menu !! Arhhh! The set menu for 35 Euros a little disappointing for the price, although my Pike Quinels & Soufle Glace with Kirsch were Brill !Secound night- good choice - smoked herring starter --the faux filet with bearrnaise suace was exceptional!!

This is a delightful small restuarant run by a husband and wife team. The food was the best we have had in Alsace, delicious local specialities and far better than that offered in some grander establishments. Very good atmosphere with local families eating, small but fresh and delicious menu chalked up on a board. We loved this place and hope to come back.

We called the same day and they made an effort to get us in. Only 7 tables it is advisable to book in advance. Very personal reception and excellent service throughout the evening. We took the middle menu with matching wines which as well included several amuse boucheâs. Extremely pleased with the evening.

Visiting the picturesque village of Itterswiller in the Alsace; next to a variety of wine bodegas a good selection of quality restaurants are presented too. From the three top establishments, Vieux Pressoir offered the finest cuisine, with innovative diversity in a cosy ambience with friendly personal attention. Highly recommended.

We had been touring the area, visiting small villages and the after seeing the Concentration Camp (the only Extermination Camp in France during the Nazi Regime), we stumbled upon this Inn on an unusually cold Sunday in early June. There was seating outside but everyone was inside as it was cold. We were welcomed warmly and brought an Amuse Bouche while looking at the menu. We all opted for the menu of the day (22 euros per person) and proceeded to have one of the best meals I have ever had. The starter was a salad with fresh veggies and meats and a great dressing, then on to a smoked blade of pork with sauerkraut and then the dessert of the day was cooked rhubarb with fresh strawberries, cream, ice cream and a little chocolate cup. I usually take pics of all my meals for Trip Advisor but failed to do so here as I immediately tucked into what was put in front of me. The Alsatian menu was extraordinary and they actually brought an extra pot of the main, just in case we wanted more. We did not as the portions were enormous. The quality of the food was very high and the freshness incredible. What a gem, tucked in a small village. We then all ordered coffee which came with an unusual :sugar" bowl and a plate of moist cake. Needless to say we all rolled out of there. While there we noticed we were the only non-locals as everyone else there were in big groups, mostly celebrating birthdays and family Sunday dinner. Would definitely return.

Coming in this general direction from Mount Ste-Odile, we had no idea where we were going to have a late Sunday lunch until we came to this lovely town nestled in the mountains. This restaurant looked like the best option since the parking areas near it were full - a good sign. We ended up parking in public parking -no fee- on rue du Wittertalhof - a short walk away. A wide selection on their menu. The patrons seemed to be local people. We ordered Gratin de Homard and Saumon Sauvage sur Salade followed by desserts of Gratin de Fraises and a Mousse Toblerone. Accompanied by a beer and a glass of Pinot Gris. A leisurely meal over a couple hours.An excellent meal and an excellent value for 64 euros.A recommended restaurant.
