We chose this restaurant for lunch as I could not walk any further but it turned out to be a nice experience. The owner was expecting a tour party so we were shown to a quiet back room it became quickly evident that this was where locals came to eat lunch. The food is unpretentious but delicious, my breast of veal was beautifully braised and uncious served with a selection of local greens vegetables and fried potatoes (not chips) a very traditional dish. We all eat different things but everything was good and the service was pleasant, helpful and prompt not withstanding the tour who arrived. I have to say I think we were were very well looked after by both the kitchen and the waiting staff so would recommend particularly as the prices are not expensive.

The meal of sliced veal roast was OK but nothing all that special. It was neither better nor worse than average for a family run, provincial Portuguese restaurant. If you've never been to such an establishment, then enjoy the novelty. Otherwise, temper your expectations.

My companion and I came here for dinner one night. The dining space is small amd narrow and casual. You do not have to dress up to come here. Our waitress spoke English and answered our questions. Grilled sausages are a good choice for tapas. Francesinha (tripple decker decandence Portuguese sandwich) is prepared many different ways and a few versions with the house twists. If you want Francesinha, make sure you don't get the Taskasinha versions because they are very different. The salad options are quite good. House red wine is solid. Very reasonably priced.

We had a lunch here. Everything super fresh, super taste. The interior is modern with nice wood. Really incredible quality. The owner Carla is the wife of one of the most famous wine makers/wine consultants in Douro. So the quality of the wines is even more interesting incredible. It is in a small side street. And it is really worth the trip. You will not find anything even remotely comparable. Top of the bill and should be #1 on trip advisor. We visited several of the highest ranking restaurants. Really good, but this one stood out!Thank you very much.It was a pleasure.Carla

My wife and I went there on a Friday afternoon and we had a very pleasant lunch.The place is beautiful and cozy, staff very friendly and the food is pretty good with a very attractive price. It's safe to say that no one gets disappointed, portions are large and food is very well prepared.

I think this could have been a great foodie experience, if I knew how and what to order. I ended ordering a salad (dou to my vegetarianism), but as I was eating I have noticed some amazing potatoe-dishes going over to the neighbours table. So I wonder what else I could have tried there :)The staff was friendly but lacked language skills (we did visit at diner time)

We had a wonderful dinner at Douro Excellence in Lamego last week. In fact the experience was so good we went back 5 days later. The ingredients are fresh and locally sourced and are expertly prepared by Paulo with a major assist from Jacira who handles the front of the house and has an extensive knowledge of the local wines from the Douro. If I lived in or around Lamego Iâd be a regular. Cheers to Jacira and Paulo for having such a wonderful place.

My boyfriend and I visited on a quiet night in March, but Antonio gave us a warm welcome! I have many food allergies (gluten, egg, dairy, etc.) and he accommodated my needs with grace. He served us the best chorizo with pineapple, a nice meat dish, great wine, and a lovely gluten free dessert.Itâs often so hard for me to find places I can eat, so it was a treat to visit!After, we had to pull out cash, so Antonio drove us to the ATM to get cash, and then he dropped us at our car. Make no mistake, this is one of the nicest meals in all of Portugal. Not cheap, but for tastfulness, and presentation, this is as good as it gets.I thought â¬3 per jug of water was a bit over the top, but otherwise, DELICIOUS!

Um espaço novo com decoração muito moderna e muito bom gosto. O staff é simpatiquissimo e o Chef Zé de grande qualidade. As doses são de qualidade de sabor e de dimensão. O bacalhau à Ze da Calçada é muito generoso e a explosão de sabores é extraordinária. A mistura de bacalhau com o purê, diversos legumes, pimento e cogumelos é divinal. A Posta é de grande qualidade. A carne é muito saborosa e muito tenra. A voltar e voltar!! Recomendo vivamente.
