We visited Les Calicots for dinner while staying nearby. Fabrezan is typical of many villages - it looks drab and uninviting. Externally the restaurant looks like most of the neighbouring properties, but as soon as you step inside, you know you're in for a treat!Light and spacious, yet full of character and atmosphere, the design cleverly incorporates a courtyard which feels like an extension of the interior. The menu did not disappoint, with traditional regional dishes and some modern twists. Everything was exquisitely cooked, beautifully presented, and served by a discreet but attentive and friendly waitress. It's hard to fault this place, I'm only sorry that we discovered it right at the end of our holiday.

Lovely choice of meat skewers, fab pizzas, great salads, fries and veg. Perfect after a busy day sightseeing. Good house wines as you would expect in this region. All very reasonably priced. Loved the little area for children.

We visited this restaurant for lunch a total of 5 times during a 3-week stay in the Corbieres region and we can say with some confidence that it is one of the best in the region. No, it does not have any Michelin stars (yet!) unlike a nearby restaurant in Fontjoncouse, but for value and quality for money it is unrivalled. The set lunch @ â¬15.00 which includes starter, main, dessert and tea/coffee has to be one of the best bargains in France. No, there is no choice, you either take the set lunch menu or move up to one of the other menus at â¬22 or â¬28 (which are also great). We had the â¬28 menu on one occasion but it was the â¬15.00 menu on the other four visits that was the star for us. Presentation is simple but thoughtful and the ingredients are superb. I had never had spider steak before as it is a cut that is uncommon outside of France, but the steaks that we enjoyed as part of the lunch menu, served simply with potatoes crushed with olive oil, were among the best steaks I have ever eaten. The restaurant itself is a large nicely appointed room with local art on display and there is a shaded terrace for outdoor eating when the weather is fine. Bathrooms were clean and modern. It is hard to criticize the restaurant but there are a couple of things they might think about. The first is whether techno/electro music is appropriate as background music for this restaurants clientele and set and setting. Also, although we had been served by the same waitress 5 times (and she was very pleasant) she made no indication that she remembered us from previous visits (despite the fact that my wife was wearing a sling). It would have been nice to meet the chef(s) who had prepared our wonderful lunches and found out a little about their philosophy/inspiration.Hopefully some of the pictures I post will do justice to the food. This is a restaurant that is worth driving out of your way to get to - you won't regret it.

We went to Largesse to visit the abbey and since it was noon we decided to have lunch. L'Affenage was chosen because it was almost full of French customers. No tourists, at least non French, were in sight. We chose the daily menu at E13.50 and we were satisfied. Our starter were two salade Averynoise followed by a main of grilled duck slices with a nice LIGHT dauphinois and a herb tomato. Dessert was a well made pannacota. Nothing fancy but each dish was well made. Wines? A glass of cremant and a house white went well with our meals. We sat outside. The service was attentive and friendly. It was a nice lunch on a pleasant terrace. Whitebeard83

Traditional yet innovative French cuisine at an affordable price in a pleasant quiet setting. Very good selection of local wines. We also speak English, German and Spanish - on top of French!
Another visit to our friends in France and a welcome return to La Petite Auberge. Our first visit was in the evening and once again the meal was excellent . We had the option of two menus which allowed us lots of choices. I had lamb shank for my main course and it was so tasty and succulent. The portion would have served two people so they allowed me to take the remainder home (our friend's cat thought it was wonderful too!). I felt bad about not finishing it (sorry Ludwig and Marie) but I had to leave space for dessert which was Marie's chocolate and pear gateau with vanilla ice cream. Superb. I didn't leave any at all! One of the great things about La Petite Auberge is the little extras they bring out such as frozen grapes in custard served in coffee cups. Lovely! We returned a few days later for lunch and this time I chose chicken which was a substitute option to replace an item they had sold out of - remember the early bird gets the worm - but it was the most succulent chicken breast I had ever eaten. Moist and tasty served in a creamy sauce, I didn't mop the sauce up with bread but I was tempted to do so. All in all the Auberge is a place worth a visit, you will not be disappointed (unless it is a Monday when they are closed!). Thank you Marie and Ludwig for making us feel so welcome and for the great food.Hi Jean and thank you for your comment! We hope you had a good flight back home? Now you are putting me on the spot: since the grapes are from our garden, quantities are limited and I can't promise if we will still have them when you next come!!In the meantime, have a Merry Christmas, a Happy New Year and hope to see you in the spring ...

Having eaten in this restaurant over the last few years without complaint. I was shocked at the appaling cuisine and dreadful service. On the 24th of May I ordered a steak, when it arrived it was covered in oil; After speaking to the 'chef' I saw that the steaks were cooked in the same oil as the chips! disgusting!I complained to the waitress who was extremely rude to me, very unprofessional! And despite not eating rhe meal I was obliged to pay!I strongly reccomend that you do not eat here!

My children and I stopped here on our way from Carcassone to Narbonne. Lagrasse was listed among the most charming villages in France. After a quick tour through the town we enjoyed a lovely gourmet meal. Beautifully prepared and presented. The roof top seating was perfect. Everything was delicious. It was a bit of a splurge but certainly worth it! Do not hesitate to visit this town even if just for this dining experience!

A fine dining experience to remember and a spectacular view ! The restaurant caters for 40 covers - 60 for groups - and provides the perfect setting in a spacious (100m2), light-drenched dining room. It is decorated in a cosy, contemporary style and offer
The restaurant is located within the hotel 'Hostellerie Des Corbieres'. I think the fact that you can't see into the restaurant from the outside might put some people off, but this is undoubtably the best restaurant in the area. Great care is taken in oreparing the food. There are 2 main menus, at 21 and 31 Euros, plus an extensive a la carte. Food is regional, inventive, generous and can't be faulted. Add an excellent regional wine list. Service is excellent but not over-bearing.I can't recommend this restaurant higher.

Only in Lagrasse for a couple of days and glad to get a reservation for Sunday Lunch. We started late and had a leisurely lunch outside in motley shade.they had run out of my first choice but no matter the replacement beef cheeks slow cooked in red wine was very good. By the look of the crowd of locals and those disappeared ones turned away this the best choice in Lagrasse. Certainly very good.

This takes the Anglo/French holiday experience back twenty years. Popped in on way to Abbaye de Lagrasse for a quick drink with our daughter. Ordered 2 cokes and a coffee. The young Male waiter spoke perfect English until it came to paying. We asked for the bill which he acknowledged. It wasnât busy at all but having waited for ten minutes we decided to give him a â¬20 note and waited for our change that never came. He then adopted a game of hide and seek more akin to a Peter Sellers film to avoid giving any change back (around â¬10 according to the drinks list) so we left to avoid embarrassment. Clearly a tried and tested strategy but you get to a point where you just canât be bothered so unfortunately we fell for it. The coffee wasnât even that good.
