This was probably the most "authentic" little restaurant we visited in Croatia. Delicious seafood that tasted like a home cooked meal. The only downside was the pasta from the bolognaise was overcooked however it seemed to be a general thing in Croatia where pasta is not cooked al dente. They also had some delicous homemade butter that was brought to our table and the owner brought us some fresh home made sour cream to eat with our starters which was very nice.On another positive note, visiting this restaurant on our way to Pula brought us to this magnificent little village that was in a picturesque setting. The drive down from the highway was just stunning and I would recommend this as a stopover to anyone on that route!

Home made pasta, steaks and on occasion horse steaks on offer, including seasonal ingredients (i.e. asparagus or truffles) make the menu, in generous quantities. This place changes very little over time which is good. Ambient is really minimalistic and always quite packed with locals.Do not expect a Michelin or JRE contender but a meal that will fill the need.
BUJAN, local bistro type, family run restaurant with more than 70 years of tradition has been a local secret for many years. The previous owner, late Ivan(Ive) Bujan, has for almost 50 yrs established a great local cuisine featuring Italian style pasta-fasol (beans with pasta), local cheese and potato baken in owen, all sorts of sausages, sauerkraut, potato all styles, veal, beef.No sea food please here! This is a very traditional, continental style restaurant runned by family only. The present owner, daughter of late and crazy charming Ive Bujan has successfully continued her father's tradition with her husband and mother, the family serves guests personally and mother still cooks herself.Very, very local restaurant with fantastic and happy atmosphere, which was the style Ive promoted and the family continued. We Croatians did hide this secret place for many years, but it is not fair to hide it any more. Also, the owners did not communicate through internet and they still do not (they do not have web page, even a mobile phone, just the old fashioned telephone). Many tourists pass near Bujan, not knowing that a jewel is hidden just two kilometeres from the local highway going from Rijeka to the Island of Krk bridge(direction Senj/Split). Worth going off A7/E65 exit 11 (direction Meja) to stop for an excellent and simple bite. And a good choice of home made grappa, limoncello and other local poisons accompanied by local or Istrian wines. Dobar tek!

The food here was simply amazing. You can sit on the patio or inside, overlooking the Adriatic. The service was prompt and friendly. It may be worth eating here just to enjoy the beauty of the restaurant. The sea bream with shrimp sauce was world class! The portions are large as well. We visited it without any expectation and we were satisfied with it. In small village near Rijeka there is a castle and in it this konoba is situated. We didnt have enough time for dinner but we had drinks and enjoyed the ambient.

The location at the parking lot is not maybe the best one in Kraljevica (small city by the sea). Pizza is good, maybe too much stuff on it, so it can be moist in the middle. The ingrediants are of the average quality. Dough could be thinner and more crispy (matter of personal preference though..). All in all - you will not leave hungry, but not delighted either.

Near the state road Rijeka - Split one can find restaurant Frankopan overlooking the entrance of small seaside town Kraljevica and the coasts of Kvarner bay . The owner and manager of the restaurant Branimir Slivka with wife Jasmina has been following the
Food was excellent and we came primarily for the food, so very happy. It's just the place looks a bit dated (but the picture of Tito was removed), even the approach of the owner was as I remember it from the Yugoslavian times. But, want to say again, food was excellent, can't remember ever having such a tasty scampi!
