The Weston Tavern was originally the Kilmaurs manse, Today the historic old building has been transformed with great care and consideration into a beautiful classic country pub and restaurant, where you can be sure to find a friendly and enjoyable experie
Been a wee while since my friends and I visited the Weston and once again a fabulous meal. We went on a Tuesday which was grill night which gave us 40% off a steak. Two of us had a sirloin steak which was cooked to perfection with a side of superb onion rings, tomato, mushroom and chips. We both opted for the peppercorn sauce which was just perfect, not too nippy for my taste buds. One friend had Haggis, tatties and neeps which she said was fab and the other friend had a small portion of perfectly cooked breaded fish, chips and minted peas. The best peas she had ever tasted. We finished off with sticky toffee pudding and meringue, rasps, white chocolate and ice cream. All in all a first class meal within the perfect atmosphere and didn't break the bank. And a final mention goes to "Jack", our waiter, you're a breath of fresh air, you made my wee friends night, good luck for the future xHi MaidaThank you for taking the time to leave us such an excellent 5* review and for the praise given to my Weston Family I will be sure to pass on your kind words.

Most disappointing lunch we have had in quite some time. Both food quality and service very poor.- Meals all came at different times- All 3 of the baked potatoes ordered were cold and had to be returned- Prawn Marie Rose filling for both baked potatoes and sandwich was mushy and tasteless- We wanted to finish off with coffee but waited ages for table to be cleared and asked if we wanted anything else despite lots of staff wandering about and had to go up to the bar to ask to be served- Coffees took over 15 mins for the first to arrive and then all came at different times despite only one other table of customers- Were not asked if we wanted small or regularly coffee so no surprise we were charged for the more expensive at over £3 eachAl in all a complete disaster for what was a family birthday lunch and we will not be back. Itâs not cheap and neither food quality or service were anywhere near acceptable.Good EveningThank you for your feedback from your recent visit.I am so sorry to hear about all the issues you encountered while here for your lunch. We strive to offer a high quality product with a service to match and I can only apologize that this did not happen during your visit. If you come back you will see that we have taken your feedback and put practices in place to ensure this was a one off.thanks very muchGlen

Me, my partner and kids came in on the Friday after a day at the beach. We thankfully got a table without a reservation. The restaurant is modestly designed, reasonably good variety of food and drinks at hand. Staff were friendly, polite and professional to their guests. The restaurant was had a nice catch to the eye on the inside. It was very clean, along with the toilets. Our main server was a girl with red hair (I'm sorry I didnt catch her name). She was great, friendly, and very attentive to not just us, but the other guests around her - all with a smile on her face! A compliment for the chefs also. As I really enjoyed my 'Hellboy Burger', and my partner enjoyed her 'Steak Pie and mash'.I just wish I wasnt all the way up in Glasgow, otherwise I would be here most of the time. But, we will be back once we pop back down to Saltcoats again.Thank you for your service, it was a priviledge and a pleasure.Hello and thanks for you kind words we are glad you all enjoyed your visit. We are looking forward to your next visit to sunny Saltcoats so we can look after you again.Hope to see you soon !Thanks Oscars

Having eaten here before and enjoyed the food and the ambience, I had no hesitation in booking it for a family meal. What a mistake. The welcome and service was good but the meal was a disaster. Three of our party opted for the Sunday roast. What they were served was an unpalatable meal of tasteless meat with a very salty sauce poured over it, roast potatoes which were hard on the outside but with no real content inside and a horrible taste. The Yorkshire puddings were burnt and solid. How any chef could allow this to leave their kitchen is beyond me. I had a flat iron steak which was well cooked but too heavily seasoned, ruining the meal. My four year old grandson opted for the pizza which he could design himself. He put cheese, ham and sweetcorn on but five minutes after everyone else had been served there was no sign of his meal. His mother alerted the staff and a further five minutes passed before a pizza appeared. However it wasn't the one he had designed and contained ingredients my grandson won't eat. It turns out that they had burnt the original pizza and had just thrown another one on. The three Sunday roast dinners went back with most of the food still on the plate. Due to the fact that it was a birthday celebration they had tried to eat them and not cause a fuss but in hindsight should have sent them back immediately. To be fair to the front of house staff they were very good and we had money taken off of our bill which was good but really didn't help the fact that the day was ruined. Perhaps the poor food explains why the place was very quite. Having enjoyed meals here before and recomennded it to others it was disappointing and I certainly won't be back.Thank you for taking the time to leave a review. I would like to take the opportunity to apologise again for our shortcomings on this occasion. This was not upto our usual high standards. RegardsPaul

Braidwoods is in the North Ayrshire countryside, open for over 20 years with the same owner and has a Michelin star.We remember eating there twenty years ago. We were impressed then and the standard of service, friendliness and the quality of the food were wxcellent this time as well.A lot of the items on the menu were sourced locally. and produced with lovely sauces and additions. The wine list had interesting and less well known wines along with a good range of French and World classics. We had a lovely evening in a relaxed atmosphere with great food and wine.
