After a long week of traveling from Minneapolis - Amsterdam - Gothenburg - Copenhagen - Oslo - Tromsø- and now Kilpisjärvi, we have struggled to find a nice hearty home style meal. A natural one at that. Besides baguettes in Denmark, and meatballs in Gothenburg; this was the best food our money had bought. Best thing about it, affordably priced. I highly recommend the steak at this restaurant. It comes with amazing potatoes, a perfect vegetable platter including corn, kale, many others, and topped with an absolutely delectable pepper sauce. 10/10 will be back again (tomorrow for lunch). Honestly- if you are in Kilpisjärvi, donât waste your time trying to find food. This place is the spot. It will allow you more time for fun like chasing the Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) and seeing the three country border. At least that is what we decided! Thank you so much Marius and company - amazing service and we WILL be BACK!!!!!!!

The buffet of Kilpisjärven retkeilykeskus (Kilpisjärvi Hiking Center) was very good, extremely much better than in another restaurant in Kilpisjärvi (Enontekiö). We ate both lunch and dinner in Kilpisjärven retkeilykeskus. They had several delicious main courses in the buffet. They also serve a breakfast buffet. You can enjoy a la carte portions, too. On the second day we ordered pizza and it was also very delicious. They have a nice and down-to-earth interior. Besides, they have a beautiful summer terrace on the second floor. The view is wonderful. They also have a souvenir shop.

I often visit Kilpisjärvi from Tromsø. This was the first time we visited this place. This was a pleasant surprise! Nice little cozy place. There was plenty of choices with both main courses and desserts. The reindeer stew with lingonberryjam was perfect after a long hike in the nature park! Nice variety of salads and other little things like cheese to pimp up the food. :)The service was "Finnish style" and reminds me of Aki Kaurismäki films. I can understand why some people have given poor reviews because of it. :D Can be a little shock to the polite, friendly and smiling Norwegians. But I think this might be the best buffet food in the area so just bare with it and enjoy the food and nice decorations.Definitely worth the money! The whole buffet was only 16⬠if I remember correctly. It includes the dessert buffet also. :)
