Situated next to the grand excellsior hotel on the waterfront. it was busy with locals but few Brits. We were well looked after. The food took some time to arrive but worth waiting for and freshly cooked. Good value for money. Would certainly return.Good afternoon,We thank you for your kind review and comments. Amazing experience at this place. Make sure to reserve in advance because it's always full. Nice presentation, generous portions, friendly staff, quick service and delicious food. Highly recommended so try not to miss it when in Valletta.

We went there yesterday and I did choose this tiny restaurant because such good rating at TripAdvisor. It was not bad but as well not such excellent as I could see there. Staff very very friendly and helpful. My fish was nothing sorry special My wife and daughter Thaler risotto which was good and my sons take swordfish which was little overcooked but good. Desert was good. Nice evening but will not go there next time.

In short, the placeâs has a very uniqe atmosphere, especially with the staff in it, they exactly know what to suggest those who want to eat something special and incredibly tasty, Angelo and Mark took care of us perfectly, Chef Antoine made a Salmon pasta freshly, tastes brilliant, if you planning to go out for a romantic evening or just to have fun and to eat something nice, definetley.. This was recommended by a local. We couldn't get a booking as they were apparently full, but we decided to turn up and try our luck. Fortunately we were able to join a communal / shared table - which was relaxed and buzzy. Had a delicious pizza with truffle sauce - yum!! Fast professional service, nice decor, great tastes, fair prices.

What a lovely little restaurant. We came here after arriving late into Sliema. The cafe is relatively small with beer, wine and champagne bottles decorating the walls. The waitress could not have been more helpful and helped us select a beautiful Sicilian wine. We had a couple of arancini to start, which were fantastic - I'm no massive fan, but these were certainly the nicest I've ever had. My wife and I then both had the tortelini which was exceptional - my wife thought it was the best pasta she has ever had. Well worth searching out this little gem.

This was our visit to Malta we found this place. Lovely staff, very welcoming, great choice of drinks and food. Nothing was to much for them. Even helped me celebrate my birthday is style. Staff and singer. Definitely recommend a visit while you are there

It's a small and cute cafe with friendly staff. I had salmon and avocado on rye bread and it was very tasty. The portion was rather big. Would recommend this place.

Looking at both their online menu and the fact that this is TA's #1 for "fine dining", we expected to have something rally fancy. The clues should have been there when we arrived at 8pm - the only people in the restaurant.Lovely modern decor, but a very dated menu - things like duck à l'orange, chicken marsala and beef wellington. Prices are also relatively high by Malta standards.We opted for just a main course. My wife had the beef wellington: nicely cooked except that the pastry on the bottom was raw. The waitress said this was because the beef was medium-rare, but my wife is a brilliant home cook and said that the trick is to cook on a rack so the heat gets to it - sear the meat all round, higher heat for 25 minutes etc etc. I had the beef fillet, which was nicely cooked. The asparagus that came with both meals was way over-cooked, stringy and limp.Considering that we were on our own for an hour, service was quite poor. They did bring us two lots of free drinks at the end, which was nice. I wouldn't go back there again.â¬99 - definitely not worth the money!Dear David,Thank you so much for taking the time to review us and note that we are number 1 on TripAdvisor for fine dining, something we worked very hard to achieve. We are so fortunate that over 92% of our guests ranked us as either excellent or very good with the majority being 5 star.So we are very disappointed that you did not have the same experience and I did send you a private message to discuss your evening at 59.We appreciate your kind comments on our lovely decor and that we gave you two rounds of complimentary drinks. Regarding our "dated" menu these are classics and sit next to many contemporary dishes. However the menu is on the website, social media and at the front door and you stated that you did see the menu before dining with us so I am not sure why the comments calling it dated. I would appreciate the opportunity to discuss further and ask you to get back to me on the message that I sent.We would love to welcome you back to 59 and show you what the majority of people experience.
