The food is typical German and well cooked. Don't go for a very sophisticated meal but rather for a good piece of pork with a good bier. Portions are certainly very generous. Keep sure to keep a little room for the dessert. Note that you can buy some beer to take home and some other homemade products (most are related to bier but not all)

Luckily we arrived very early. All the tables were booked but very nicely we were invited to sit on the bar table. The lady spoke English and French and we felt saved....we had the most amazing food from start to end. All was fantastic and very well presented . First time but not the last. Go in but think about booking in advance.

We have had a most happy, delicious and enjoyable dinner at Waldhaus on a warm summer evening. We met here with friends from Switzerland, who recommended this wonderful place. They regularly drive about an hour just to eat here, I think that says a lot about the restaurant :)! We were on a motorcycle trip with friends from Belgium and Holland and arranged a get-together at the strategically located Waldhaus, where we enjoyed a terrific dinner.Since we were with a rather large group, we got to see/try many dishes of their extensive and attractive menu. I could not resist ordering the Schweinhaxe, the best I had in my entire life! Very crispy, succulent and flavourfull, makes my mouth water just thinking about it! I also got to try some of the other dishes (steak, cordon bleu) and it all tasted very well. Even the bread was so fresh and crispy you just couldn't resist to eat it all. The portions were very, very generous and the prices very fair for the amount and quality. Ofcourse, you should order some beers here, but we also enjoyed a most delicious, local red wine (Spätburgunder), absolutely worth the try! The service was perfect, very friendly and helpful, with the right amount of jokes, while still working and sending orders. No one had to wait long for their orders, despite the size of our group, so the kitchen staff deserves a compliment for the timing as well! Over all, the atmosphere was very enjoyable, I saw happy faces all around me. Locals, tourists, families, groups of friends, they all seem to have a good time. Also easy to reach and enough parking facilities. I would recommend Waldhaus to anyone visiting that beautiful area, either for lunch or dinner and I cannot wait to visit again! Thank you for a wonderful evening and Auf Wiedersehen ;)!

The food was great, the restaurant very busy on the Monday after Easter. They have a trout farm and the local trout is served about as fresh as you can get it. You can order it prepared in many ways, including the whole fish both as Blauforelle ( steamed), Muellerin Art (pan fried with a slight breading, whole) or as a filet with various sauces. The meat dishes are excellent as well. Pricing is slightly above mid-range, but well worth it. Get reservations, particularly on the weekend. There is a free animal park, petting zoo and large play area for children and family. Also free access to the trout ponds, where you can feed the fish. Antique farm equipment including a 1950 Lanz Bulldog. Groomed hiking trails all around the restaurant. This makes it a nice day destination for the whole family. Parking is abundant and free.Thank you!

This Loipenhaus is obviously meant as a stop for cross country skiers (Loipe being a cross country ski track) and hikers. It's a simple little Café serving basic hot and cold beverages as well as tasty self-made food. The food can vary but you'll almost always find a hearty soup on offer in the colder months, as well as great local sausage. Hey even have the local produce on sale.It doesn't claim to be top notch and it doesn't have to. After a walk around the highest point in Hoechenschwand with magnificent views across over to the Alps and Feldberg it's a great chance to sit and warm up. Rustic seating is available in and outside.Appropriately, the pricing is reasonable, especially for somewhere so close to the Swiss boarder ;)

This restaurant is located near the top of a black forest mountain (hill). Great view into the valley. The menu offers a wide selection. The daily lunch sets are reasonably priced. service was excellent.

Restaurant
german gasthof typical decoration, warm and pleasantsufficient carpark space outsidethe service was efficient, polite and friendly but not enthusiasticthe stroganoff beef was good and i was told that the wild boar and the cow tongue good as wellgood beerthe price was reasonablethe choices in the menu were rather short and they took too long to bring the food. for these last two reasons i rank them with an average rating instead of good rating

From the outside the restaurant does not look incredibly inviting. However the interior does not look like much either. Why go here? Go for the food and the friendly down to earth honest service. This restaurant has a heart and a soul. A good menu everything is cooked from scratch. The staff is extremely well trained. Personal wishes are fulfilled. This time I enjoyed the wild garlic (Bärlauch) maultaschen. Delicious and well made. he wild garlic soup was good perphas a little less salt for my tasting but all together this was really good. Just wine selection is not spectacular but hey I love good honest cooking! more info on traubenliebe.comHello Traubenliebe, thank you for the good Review.Peter Zorzytzki
