Restaurant by Masterchef winner Steven Edwards Menus focus on using fresh produce from in and around the surrounding Sussex countryside.
Wonderful evening as guests of family friends. The food was outstanding and the service was delightful. We were taken care off by Beth who is incredibly knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the menu and the wines. It would be difficult to single out a particular course for praise but the beef with kohlrabi was sublime. Each individual element of the dining experience marries to create a unique and special event rather than just a meal. We cannot wait to return.

Stylish contemporary British Bistro offering a super seasonal menu alongside blackboard specials and a fantastic set menu for lunch.
My partner and friends visited on a sat night and there was an issue with one of the dishes, I raised these concerns with the manager and the whole issue was dealt with wonderfully well and very professional, food very high standard and beautiful setting inside the venue. Would point anybody in the direction of this restaurant. Very impressed well done chambers.

Finally made a long awaited visit to this one of three restaurants at South Lodge (regular at Penny Hill one of the same group of hotels, so expectations were high)We had booked an early table and as requested we were directed to the bar for a drink, unfortunately the bartender was absent and everything seemed to be not quite ready for guests to arrive. Finally we were served and the champagne (Taittinger)we ordered was correctly chilled and well served, I should point out that this and all the other wines from a more than adequate list are pushing to break point the upper limits of the relevant price bandsOur order was taken in the bar which I appreciate with a good balance of humour and deference, and were offered a terrace table as an alternative to the restaurant itself but declined Food wise I have very few negative comments as it was all very good, well cooked and presented, all the negatives were around the quality and skill levels of service, the contrast and gaps between the mâitre de and everyone else was enormous and it was this that limited the overall experience of Camellia and stops it being in the top echelons Highlights were, the tartare of beef which was an individual take on the classic and a very good take at that, the fillet of Sussex beef was exceptional and cooked to perfection, and a citron parfait with a gin and tonic granita/sorbet was superb and not over sweetened! However, one of my guests had ordered Stone Bass and one the Bream and unfortunately these were served to the wrong individuals, still more unfortunately the waitress disagreed initially and once she had sorted herself out the great cooking had become the victim of time The sourdough bread served with the amuse bouche was distinctive by itâs lack of sourdough smell or flavour and seemed like mass produced but I donât know Despite my earlier comments on the wine list a bottle of Mâcon Villages turned out to be a particularly good example (I know this wine region quite well), you should try it. In addition to this a glass of a Sicilian Nero lived up to reputation, the initial and normal strong alcohol nose quickly giving way to dry red fruits and tanninsThe English cheese plate was pleasant enough, however the waiter did not know what the cheeses were and made no introduction or explanation of them, a rwal pity as one of them was an exceptionally strong (Isle of Wight??? Possibly) and if sampled first would render the other cheeses redundant Overall, good Mâitre De, poor waiting staff, really good food (importantly), good wines. As I said ALMOST, but not show casing Mr Gibson well enough, and I think I will try The Pass instead next time Firstly may I thank you for taking the time to review your recent visit to the Camellia Restaurant. I am delighted to see that there were many aspects of your experience that you enjoyed especially the food and wine. We went to the restaurant when it first opened and haven't been back since, partly because there is no where else to go to nearby for an evening out. Second visit last week was fine. Food was very nice but limited choice of starters for anyone who doesn't like seafood. Not an extensive main menu but adequate. Everything came piping hot and very tasty which was great.Staff were friendly. Restaurant was clean. Not sure about going when it's busy as it looked as if competing with Just Eat orders and takeaways. Would go back in a little while

Itâs not very often our visit to Sussex goes without a visit to Sylvan Oak and this occasion was no exception. Itâs like coming home when you walk through the door. Everyone is extremely welcoming and the service is fantastic. Our food was amazing - absolutely stunning presentation and flavours to die for. First class all the way. Thank you to Sinan and the incredible team he has around him for making our visit so special.

We visited for my sons birthday. Quite busy for a Tuesday night but the service was excellent. Food was very good particularly the pork belly. Will definitely be returning and have no hesitation in recommending for a great evening. Thank you.
