Had heard mixed reviews so decided to try for ourselves, we were all very hungry and looking forward to a meal. When we arrived it wssnt very busy. We sat at a table and waited...and waited. Nobody acknowledged us so we asked for a menu at the bar. There wasnt a huge choice on the menu but we chose and waited...and waited. Decided to order at the bar to be told somebody would come to the table, but again waited and waited. The waitresses kept walking past but never looked our way, so we left. So never got to try the food so cant rate it but service is dismal.

we haven't visited for a while but always found the food good. On this visit the steaks were awful: overcooked and the chips were soggy. the restaurant was busy with large parties but no excuse. To be fair they dealt with our complaint and adjusted the bill but we had come out for dinner and went home hungry and disappointed.

Dined here at the weekend with a group of girls for a hen do meal, 12 of us. Excellent service and delicious food. The Dutch team looked after us perfectly. All dishes were as per the pre order, spiced koftas in flatbread for me which I've had there before, really good. Various other meals ordered including dirty fries, suiza, nachos etc. Wine and cocktails good value, reasonable prices. I would definitely return here, such a friendly team and good quality dishes with lots of choice. Thank you for a great time!

Another visit and another great meal. Went for dinner and arrived in time for the early bird deal. I opted for the lasagne which was delicious as usual , more than enough for one and served piping hot. My wife had vegetable pizza which she thoroughly enjoyed. The house red wine was lovely and great value . Service was brilliant despite it being really busy. Will definitely return.

I visited with my friend over from Chicago and once again not disappointed the food is always of a fresh high standard we presented, the staff are a credit to the thin white Duke the work hard constantly as this place is very busy due to the quality of service and food. I highly recommend eating and drinking here you will not be disappointed

Restaurant situated in the village of Houghton Open Thursday Friday and Saturday Evenings 5pm until 11pm
I have avoided this place because I thought it was not veggie friendly (no vegetarian option on menu on website). We were given a voucher and when I made contact was assured that catering for a vegetarian was no problem. I could even have a vegetarian Tasting Menu!Meal was amazing! Food was great and I was well catered for, there were even special veggie canapés for me.There were only two front of house staff looking after >20 covers. They did a great job. Service was very slick and efficient and they even made the effort to check that everything was OK.Already looking forward to my next visit!

We were very much looking forward to our lunch as we had heard so many good comments about this restaurant. The restaurant itself is outstanding and we were pleased with the Accessible Parking and lift. On arrival the Maitre dâ was superb - he welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. We ordered a starter and main course. Again my king prawns were absolutely delicious and my husband enjoyed his soup then things began to go slightly down hill when our main course arrived. My husband ordered fish and chips. The fish portion was very small and the fish was overcooked and dry. His plate was filled with chips - again these were dry. I chose the salmon in a sauce vierge. The salmon was good but the sauce tasted as though it had come straight from the fridge and was very very cold. I too had a plate of new potatoes which were dry. However there seemed to be too much oil on my plate. The meal wasnât bad but it wasnât as good as I expected and certainly wasnât good enough for the price we paid. When asked by the maitre dâ if we had enjoyed the meal I explained our disappointment. The reason Iâm writing this on social media is because he said that the chef pays more attention to and spends more time on main meals - especially those on a Friday and Saturday. However he did offer us a free dessert.Just not good enough Iâm afraid!!!Thank you so much for your valuable feedback from your visit yesterday, It will certainly help us improve in the future. I am sorry that we fell short of your expectations yesterday and can only apologise for the mistakes that were made on our part. With regards to the portion size of the Haddock & Chips, we have had a lot of comments in the past about the portion size being too large which resulted in excessive wastage. We did review this and are currently trialing a smaller fillet size to address this issue. Obviously if we have gone too far the other way, we need to find a happy medium. Your comments have been discussed with the chefs who will pass on to the suppliers.I also spoke to Yann who served you yesterday, he was upset to hear that his comments came across wrongly. He reassured me that he was keen that you would come back and try our evening dinner menu and give us another chance because the dinner menu is so well-received.We would love to welcome you back and discuss your visit further and have a chance to put things right. Many thanksRachel Ferguson
