Reviews on European food in Getafe, Community of Madrid, Spain. Getafe (Spanish pronunciation: [xeˈtafe]) is a city in the south of the Madrid metropolitan area, Spain, and one of the most populated and industrialised cities in the area. It is home to one of the oldest Spanish military air bases and the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. Within the city is the Cerro de los Ángeles, or Hill of the Angels, a site considered the geographical center of the Iberian Peninsula. Getafe is located 13 km south of Madrid's city centre, within a flat area of Spain's Meseta Central in the Manzanares River basin.

We went to this restaurant for a family lunch to celebrate Epiphany, and quite frankly, I fail to see what the fuss is about. I found it very overpriced for what it is - a local restaurant in a slightly wealthier (when compared to Parla or Fuenlabrada) working class suburb of Madrid. The owner was very professional and on the ball, and the waitresses were lovely as well, but there were a couple of stinker waiters that made it hard to obviate the general mediocrity of the place. The starters were probably the best thing - the tempura vegetables were super tasty - but the mains dampened any expectations we may have had. My porcini mushrooms risotto was heavy and lacked any kind of flavour. The wine list was decent, plenty of choice to drown your sorrows. By far, and I mean by a million miles far, the highlight of our visit was the cinnamon gelato. Of course, this alone didn't warrant the extortionate bill we paid for a disappointing meal. Surely there must be more places in Getafe that actually offer genuine Madrilenian cuisine for a reasonable price; find them and try them instead.

This place is located in the residential neighbourhood of Carabanchel. It is actually a bit hidden and far from the city centre, but if you have the chance you should come to this place. The food is so delicious. They are specialized in roasted pork and lamb. These are very traditional Spanish dishes. You will find it in many places in Madrid, but here they are really good quality and at a reasonable price. I especially recommend the roasted baby pork or "cochinillo". It is advisable to book it in advance. They might run out of them if you don't make a reservation. The service is really kind and the place has a great atmosphere. A big dinning room with many tables and people having lively conversations while eating their food. It's the typical places where Spanish families go for weekend lunch or dinner.

It will be hard to finish all your dishes.. This place is a surprise in Getafe town, a really good one.. An exquisit Basque cuisine served by a professional, warm and friendly staff that will welcome you with some appetizers and white wine on the house. The dishes come from the traditional cuisine of the Pais Vasco and Navarra region. Excellent pescado and carne (fish and meat), really big servings and good wines. The prices are not so cheap but if you want to taste something good and special you will pay for it gladly.

We ordered pizza and tortellini. This is the best tasting Italian restaurant I dine till now. waiters were very helpful and polite. They changed the ingredients which we don't eat to the ones we like to eat. We had great tastes and great time. We stayed two nights in leganes and have dinner for two times here.

While this restaurant rates #1 in Getafe for the time being, I don't believe this restaurant lives up to this expectation. We arrived on a Monday night for dinner (it was empty), excited to have the "Secreto Pork" and the Cod fish that were on the menu; they were out of both. We had a ham and mushroom appetizer that was delicious and came, very artistically, in a sardine can with the top. The ham was excellent tasting and the sauce as well. For dinner, after getting over my disappointment of no Secreto Pork, I chose the Chipirones for the first time (squid, very calamari-like) that were grilled to perfection and tasty over a bed of "pisto" - vegetable mix. My daughter ordered the Fabada Asturiana, but they apparently forgot and it was just as well, because of our annoyance. For dessert, we asked what was good, and instead of just saying what they were out of, he was probably praying we wouldn't choose the one they were out of....but we did, even unknowingly....lol....they were out of the tiramisu. The Coulant (chocolate lava cake) came cold in the middle. "Si te esperas, te lo hacemos" is their motto, but it should be: "si te esperas, no lo tenemos."
