Have been to Schloss Berge several times in the last 3 months and always for business diners.The hotel / restaurant is located in a picturesque park area, which is well maintained, and the property buildings and interior are also well appointed and maintained.Food is mostly German cuisine served in generous portions and consistently good. This is a down-to-earth cuisine that seems to cater more to those enjoying a good German beer or German wine with their meal. Gourmets & foodies looking for the next big dining experience may find other restaurants in the region more to their liking. Nonetheless, everything my colleagues and I had at Schloss Berge was well cooked, well presented and a joy to eat. We also felt that the service provided was consistently very good, and that staff and waiters are very attentive to customer needs.I recommend this property for relaxed dinners in style in groups of max. 4 people who come very hungry and appreciate a good Schnaps after getting some good carb- and fat-rich German cooking into their bellies.

Situated in the town's center close to the dome, this authentic German restaurant / bar offers the full "German experience". Wonderful ambience, full of locals, very friendly staff... and serving lots of traditional dishes. We had the Schweine Haxe and the Schnitzel...both great. Price very reasonable. Delicious Italian food. Family friendly. Vegetarian dishes available. We had the pesto gnocchi, grilled octopus and another pasta dish. Ample sized dishes fresh prepared m. Clean and low prices. â¬7 and up.

Went here for a business gathering. Big group but the service was very good. Food was good with reasonable choice. It is located in an area that is worth visiting i.e. protected old collieries which have been turned into museums, very interesting. Would go here again.

Another classic German wirtschaft in the heart own downtown Gelsenkirchen Buer, right beside the church. Typical classic German food including all kinds of Schnitzel, Roast Duck, Haxe, they have it all. Great selection of German draft beer, be patient, it takes some time to pour a beer properly.

We arrived on Sunday with the small town like this, most of the restaurants are closed or gone for summer holiday. Normally for pizza, pasta and spaghetti can't go so wrong and our little one likes these anyway, so we go for this restaurant.The waitress tried to be hospitality but they barely speak English, we did order food and the food quality were fine (as how it should be) but we came with 3 persons and there was a table with 6 persons came later than us. They get food at the same time with us and they even get their bill earlier than us when we asked first. Basically that is OKAY but don't put high expectation for that.PS. As an Italian restaurant, they don't have ice cream/ gelato; was a bit disappointing..

We were a party of five who were searching for excellent German food...and we were not disappointed. There is plenty of free parking, and their is a view of the lake from inside the restaurant.The restaurant is very modern with its seating and features. The menu will meet anyone's dietary wishes. We tried several appetizers...all excellent...and ordered veal and fish dishes. The wine list was very large...we were too full to even consider desserts!!The service was very good!Certainly a place we can recommend. The prices are close to being fine dining prices, but it would be possible to find items to order that would fit a moderate budget.

As close as you will get to an authentic steakhouse in Germany. We Canadians are spoiled by the quality of meat we get here compared to that offered in Europe. This restaurant is not going to compare to Ruth's, Mortons, The Keg, but it does get you as close as you will find in Europe. If you need a steak, this is a good place to get one.
