The restaurant Zur Alten Mosterei is located between the pedestrian zone (Seestrasse) and the parking lot near the railway station thus easy to access from both sides. The restaurant comprises of the ground floor with 4-5 tables, kitchen and toilets, and the more spacious wood paneled upper floor which is preferred for dining. I appreciate the short menu which lists about 8-10 appetizers and the same number of main dishes. Alberto the chef is very creative, preparing excellent dishes which are not the usual fare except for the very affordable lunch time specials. It is virtually magic how he is able to concoct such delicious food in the very small kitchen. The several times I had dined there, I was never disappointed. The service, mostly by his wife, is friendly and efficient, the ambiance cozy.

There isn't particularly much to say about Restaurant Sonne. The pizza was a solid average; the service didn't quite get better than that either. My father asked to have his plate warmed; he's a slow eater these days, I suppose this happens with age. You'd think it's an easy request for a restaurant to accommodate during a quiet lunch hour with only four occupied tables, two of which singles. Well, you'd be wrong. Apparently, putting a plate near the already hot pizza oven would, according to the owner/manager/man-in-charge-at-the-time raise the cost of the pizza by two or so francs, which would force Sonne out of business. In fact, this man felt so strongly opposed to warm plates that he loudly argued his case for everyone in the near-empty room to hear.Pair this display of service with average food, and I believe it won't be warm plates jeopardising Sonne's continued operation.

I come to the region of Untersee often, and Hirschen is by far my favorite restaurant on the lake. Their cordon-bleu is the best you find anywhere - they have their own butcher shop and the meat is delicious. Same goes for the salads and all the other side dishes, and their selection of local wines is extensive and very very good. The setting is marvelous. There is a wonderful garden under a gigantic tree right by the lakeshore, and their indoor space is a charming room with low ceiling and a cosy atmosphere. The waitstaff is friendly and knowledgable, and the owner of the restaurant, who seems to be ever-present, speaks excellent English and one can have interesting and insightful conversation with him. Overall, this is a great restaurant, and I'll keep returning whenever I can.

Even for Reichenau, this place is off the beaten track. An excellent place though. Interior decor like an old fashioned pub, food *wonderful*. Two very tasty 3 course meals with drinks 80 euros. Very ample portions, delicious honest food.My wife had a honey dressed gosts cheese salad, grilled salmon with asparagus risotto and an almond mousse with fresh strawberries. I had cream of asparagus soup, entrepreneur with fried potatoes and vanilla parfait with raspberry could and fresh fruit. Very friendly hosts. All in all, highly recommended.

The street/road which takes you to this place is very narrow and it is almost impossible to drive here without stress :(Location of the huge cottage style place is nice with a great view and friendly service.... so why the poor rating?!Switzerland is known to be very tidy and clean.... well not here :(Food was below expectations after reading reviews on TA!Won't be back :(

Gasthaus Hirschen is one of the several restaurants with excellent local cuisine found in small villages along and near Lake Constance. Hirschen in Horn/Gaienhofen on the so-called âHoeriâ is family run, the owner always around helping with seating arrangements and service. Meat, fish and vegetables come from the local butchers, farmers and fishermen. On recommendation by the very efficient and friendly waitress my wife had a Saibling (local fish), our friend a lamb ragout and I had a fish soup and beef from the ox, all very delicious and in generous portions. Although the restaurant was fully occupied, inside, and outside in the beer garden, the service was very friendly and fast.
