We were recommended this restaurant by the hotel we were staying in and it was really excellent.I have an unusual food allergy and the staff were only to happy to check it out with the chef and also to bring out the list of ingredients in the food that i had chosen, despite the restaurant being extremely busy. The restaurant is situated in the square opposite the lovely church and we sat outside. The service was excellent, the food delicious and the wine recommended by the waitress was great. They give you fresh bread and cheese/sour cream spread as a starter free of charge, which was a nice touch. It was so good we ate there on the second night of our trip.I Would definitely recommend this restaurant.

Very nice big outdoor biergarten. Friendly staff that speaks english and explains the different things on the very small menu. I tried pretzel, white sausages and bier from the brewery. All very nice, the beer was excellent :)

The restaurant is located within the Colombi hotel and not only reflects the hotels classical style, but also its very high standards. We opted for the multi-course dinner, which we enjoyed a lot. Classical, but focused haute cuisine. Nice portions, not small, but of right size to keep your appetite to the dessert. Nice pace of serving. Recipes with an innovative touch and nice food presentation, but still with a limited number of key ingredients and a focus on the taste. The service was friendly, professional and unobtrusive. Surely dining here isn't cheap, but well worth the price and still moderate for a one star / 17 points restaurant. If you are looking for a fine dining restaurant in Freiburg, I can't imagine that there is a better place than Zirbelstube.

Came here for Germany famous local dish, the schnitzel. They have schnitzel which came in a portion made for giants. It was huge in size and very thick. Also came with potato salad and salad. Schnitzel was tasty, not too dry and. Light in fried crusty skin. Would recommend anyone to try and eat it and finish it. I did and amazed that I was able to.

Whether you are looking for a lovely meal at a restaurant with one of the most amazing views of Freiburg, March, Kaiserstuhl and The Vosges mountains in Alsace included at no extra cost, or you're shopping for a venue in which to host your next family function - with all of the above mentioned trimmings - this would be an absolute must. We've had the pleasure of doing both and cannot sing our praise loudly enough. Location, cuisine, service and cost - every bit of it makes for an experience we keep coming back for.

We were recommended this restaurant by a local as the best place to find good German schnitzel in Freiburg. We were lucky to get a table as it was bursting with local Freiburgers tucking into generous portions of excellent food. It really does serve schnitzel and variations on schnitzel with excellent potatoes on the side so don't make the effort if you want choice or fine dining but for a really filling meal of traditional local food it is excellent. And a local schnapps to finish off is ideal

O'Kellys Irish Pub is a typical Irish pub outside of Ireland. Really busy and suited for tourists. They serve your typical Irish pub beers (Guinness, Kilkenny...) but also some local craft beers from Braukollektiv. Sports on the screens.

We went with our son and his girlfriend, who both live in Freiburg, and met another couple (German/American, as my husband and I are as well), so it was a really mixed, fun group. The proprietress is amazing--she cooks everything from scratch, and wow! can she cook!! This is now my favorite place near Freiburg. Lena, our son's girlfriend, says that locals often come here after hiking (and well-behaved dogs are welcome), but we were there well after dark, and it was really full of young, happy people. We had the homemade spätzle and some of us had the wonderful cheese fondue. The Flammkuchen (flatbreads) on the other tables looked amazing, as well. The beer is great, the service in this family-run restaurant is thoughtful and attentive. The prices are more than fair. Please go to this wonderful place!Thank you very much for all the compliments! We are happy that you enjoy your stay and we hope to see you again. Thank you very much! Greets T.Fehrle

Perfect location, nice setting, good and attentive service, good presentation of food.Food quality was just average. The starters (scallops and fish soup) were okay but the main courses were disappointing. Pasta was too âwetâ. My daughter couldnât finish 1/3. My veal was over cooked. The steak and fish plate were average. With this price I expected a better quality.

We visited for lunch and sat at an outside table which offers a view of beautiful konvikstrasse. Service was impeccable and friendly. The food was absolutely delicious and so imaginative. The lamb in particular was the best! This meal definitely made an impression and we wished we had gone back for dinner.
